Alex Aguiar cashes in 2013 US Open

As reported by the PBA, Alex Aguiar, from Dartmouth, MA, finished 54th after today’s cashers qualifying round at the US Open in Columbus, OH. Elsewhere on the site, Alex was reported with a +23 score after 24 games of qualifying to make the cut in the 61st position, then was able to move up with a +6 block (6 games).

I posted on Facebook that, by coincidence, Alex finished one spot higher than Chris Barnes, and my post was a reference to the last time the PBA Tour was in Norwich, CT, for the Go RV’ing Match Play Championship in March of 2010, a week in which Aguiar knocked Barnes out in the first round of the tournament, then, later in the week, defeated Barnes again in the action match for Xtra Frame.

I’ve been following the action at the US Open all week on Xtra Frame, and the administrivia for this post will be that I’ll add a link to Xtra Frame to the sidebar, under the general “Bowling Sites” category.

  1. Alex pointed out to me that he and Chris Barnes are, in fact, friends, and that their history in competition is overrated…that and the pay jump between their positions was only $5.
