Roberts & Aguiar doubles follow-up notes

Just some notes related to Ed Roberts and Alex Aguiar’s doubles performance in the city tournament yesterday:

  • Ed himself followed up with 245 and 226 for a 771 set, and the 1,574 doubles series is also considered a national honor score.
  • The 1,574 set beat the second highest scratch set in the event, thrown by Rob Young and Jason Sherwood, by 296 pins.
  • For these next two, I looked up the bowl.com leaderboard…there have been at least two other 600 doubles games thrown in the nation this season: Chris Nocella and Eric Smith on Jan. 9 in Troy, NY, and Luke Moore and Jay Loos on Mar. 12 in Marshfield, WI.
  • The 1,574 set is unofficially tied for third highest in the nation this season with Jon and Tony Cherpeski, who bowled their 1,574 on Sept. 29. in Fairborn, OH. John Baldeschwiler and Cory Domingue are currently listed as the national leaders with a 1,673 bowled on Oct. 20 in D’lberville, MS.
  • Finally, I don’t normally note equipment used in honor score performances, but I will here: Ed threw a Storm Zero Gravity, and Alex a Roto Grip Wrecker.

Administrivia note: The first post about the 600 doubles game will be updated with Ed & Alex’s photo.
