The Bay State Open ran a dual event at Westgate Lanes Sunday, with their first youth singles event alongside an adult doubles event. The appropriate Facebook posts will be linked on the event type.

In the adult doubles event, Bill Briggs & Tina Gannon were the winners after defeating Roland Sandefur & Tom Hedding 495-469 (with handicap) in a match that saw Gannon answer Hedding’s opening six-bagger with one of her own and Briggs closing out with a turkey. Clayton Hill Jr., along with his brother Bill, cashed from Westgate Lanes besides the finalists (Clayton is a newer bowler in my Wednesday night league), and the other team was Lanes & Games’ Jennifer Dorrington and John Litwin. 20 teams entered the event.
In qualifying, Briggs had games of 268, 290, and 258 for an 816 series, which Bill told me was his first 800 series, because he’s never bowled in a house shot league. Also, Sean Richard and John Litwin both had 300 games in qualifying.

The Bay State Open’s first ever youth singles event saw 10 entries, with Jacob Ostroff besting Eldon Dunbar 288-228 (with handicap) in the final match, with Eric Buxton finishing third. Ostroff received $240 in SMART scholarship funds for winning.
Video of both championship matches will be posted here at a later date.
