The event is the PeyBack Bowl, to be held on Aug. 18 in Indianapolis, which benefits Peyton Manning’s PeyBack Foundation. He will be joined by IndyCar series drivers Scott Dixon, Sarah Fisher, and A.J. Foyt IV (which is why the note appeared on a motor sports site), along with other national and Indianapolis local celebrities.

I’ve mentioned Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett’s “Beckett Bowl” previously, but New England Cable News made mention of last night’s event, which includes video. The event was held at Town Line Ten Pin in Malden, MA and benefited Boston’s Children’s Hospital through Beckett’s foundation.

This column in ESPN The Magazine notes that pitcher John Lackey and a few of his fellow Angels got a tour of the White House during his team’s visit to the nation’s capital for interleague play against the Nationals. The tour included a try-out of the bowling lanes in the White House basement.

Even prizefighters like bowling, as this boxing site notes: bowling will be a part of a weekend in Grand Rapids, MI that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is throwing to celebrate his retirement from the fight game.

Baseball players may be right in the middle of their season, but that didn’t stop the Philadelphia Phillies from using a day off to run a celebrity bowling tournament, as the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Shortstop Jimmy Rollins spearheaded the event, which benefited the Arthritis Foundation of Philadelphia’s Summer Camp for Kids.

And Danieal Manning, a Chicago Bears safety, will not be done bowling with the team outing, as this Corsicana, TX newspaper report notes. Manning will be holding a celebrity bowling tournament in that area which will also include San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown and Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes. The event will benefit Corsicana high school athletics.
