Eric Durden, Chuck Gerlach, Steve Dale Jr. throw 300s in NEBA at Wonder Bowl

Congrats to Eric Durden, Chuck Gerlach, and Steve Dale Jr., all Westgate Lanes league bowlers who posted 300 games yesterday in the NEBA event at Wonder Bowl in New Bedford. The posted results showed Greg Flamand defeating Anthony Pepe by a score of 276-196 in the final match for his 4th title, and Sean Richard and Jason Sherwood, along w/ Steve Dale Jr., the Westgate Lanes league bowlers who cashed.

Rich Fulton rolls 800 set in Coke league

Congrats to Rich Fulton with games of 287, 257, and 256 for an even 800 series tonight in the Coke league. It was the first 800 series in the league since Matt Yandek’s 801 on Mar. 21, 2011. I got video of the last two shots (Rich had the first strike in the last frame as I started the camera.), and it’s below, but those friends of Sean Richard (one of Rich’s teammates in the league) on Facebook can see a better quality video on his timeline.

Congrats again, Richie! 😀

Shane Litchfield throws first 700 series

I thought this worthy of an honor score mention because of his age: After turning 13 and graduating to the Junior division this season, Shane Litchfield today threw games of 211, 248, and 249 for a 708 series, his first 700 series. This has prompted me to wonder who the youngest bowler to throw a 700 series at Westgate Lanes was, and this point is currently under research.

Congrats Shane! 😀

Pat Carrara posts perfect game in Coke league

Congrats to Pat Carrara on a 300 game tonight in the Coke league. I was there tonight, and saw the last strike, but didn’t have time to set up a shot with my cellphone. There was a good reason for this: I actually had a chance to run the brackets in the league tonight after having to back out of an opportunity earlier in the season for the last week of the fall virtual league. For a first time, things went fairly smoothly, but, wanting to keep my first time simple, I had to shut a couple of bowlers out after I filled ten brackets. Next time, I will acquaint myself with my bracket software’s refund features and will get everyone who wants in, in.

Peter Sands tosses perfecto in Patriots league

Congrats to Peter Sands, who threw a 300 game last night in the Patriots league. It should be noted that he bowls on a team in my summer league, and this is the first time I’ve mentioned one of that team’s (“Wyld Stallyns”) members individually. 😀

EDIT: This also happens to be my 2,000th post to this blog. If you’ve put up w/ me for all of those, I thank you. 😀

2013-14 mid-season round-up

With the New Year, I devote the usual post to the high scores for both the men and women at Westgate Lanes during the season in-progress at the unofficial halfway point of the winter season. It will be based on the league standings sheets I have available at press time. High average will be for a minimum of 36 games, and youth bowlers will be included with the adult bowlers if they otherwise qualified.

Men

Average: 229.9; Dan Esdale (Thursday Night Patriots, 48 games)
Series: 790; Ed Alfieri (Westgate Mixed)
Game: 300; Dan Robinson (Coke Classic), Brian White, Jim Alfieri, Bob Hamilton, Rob Dickens, Harry Thibeault (Westgate Mixed), Jewell Wilson, Dan Esdale (TNBA)

Women

Average: 207.2; Chris Major (His & Hers, 42 games)
Series: 744; Tina Gannon (Coke Classic)
Game: 290; Chris Major (His & Hers)

Readers interested in a particular league can check the standings sheets on BowlerExpress at http://www.bowlerexpress.com/4westgate except for the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen League, which posts only on LeagueSecretary.com

Note: I usually don’t file these posts under Honor Scores, but this is the first time I am aware of Tina Gannon’s 744 series, which I apparently missed when she threw it. Congrats Tina! 😀
