Sean Richard throws 300 game in Brockton city tournament singles
The 2012-13 bowling season at Westgate Lanes has been the year of Sean Richard, and he added to his highlights of the season today with his 41st career perfect game in the last game of his singles event in the association tournament. I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before I got video of one of his perfectos, and it’s below:
Sean told me it was his first honor score in the city tournament, so it’s safe to say he’ll remember this for a while. 😉
Congrats again, “Kash”! 😀
Catching up: Billy Trudell throws 11 in a row 278 in Sportsmen
Most of my regular readers know by now that I’m the one responsible for the Brockton Bowling Association Facebook page, on which I at least try to recognize all of the honor scores in the association. I usually catch them on the various league standings sheets online, but occasionally, an honor score will fly under the radar. This can easily happen with an 11 in a row game: Most of the time, they score in the 290s and are easily detected, but an 11 in a row game with the first frame open will score in the 270s, which can also be made with all strikes except for a spare in the 3rd to 9th frames, or the first 9 strikes and a spare with the first two deliveries in the 10th frame. For those, I have to rely on the awards posted on the association website, which, admittedly, I don’t check as often as I should.
There was one such 11 in a row game at Westgate Lanes on Nov. 13, thrown by Billy Trudell in the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen league for a 278 score. I’ll try to find out from him (I found him on Facebook) what he left in the first frame and comment when I know. In the meantime, congrats Billy! 😀
Note: I recently learned that Donna Bickel, my summer league secretary who works in the Westgate Lanes office, has had her mother take ill, so I’m sending my best wishes to Donna and hope that she can return to work soon.
Aguiar wins 15th NEBA title at E. Providence Lanes; Ferguson throws perfect game
NEBA reported that Alex Aguiar won his 15th career NEBA title today at East Providence Lanes, defeating Chris Sole 267-187 in the final match.
NEBA’s posting of the match play results also shows that Brockton Bowling Association Hall of Famer Jim Ferguson threw a 300 game against Danny Khuu in the second round of match play. Along with Aguiar, Ferguson, and Khuu, other Westgate Lanes league bowlers cashing in the tournament were Billy Trudell (semifinalist), Steve Dale Jr., and Jason Sherwood.
Congrats to all involved! 😀
Allen Halacy throws perfect game in junior travel league
Before today’s squad in the mixed doubles tournament, the junior travel league visited Westgate Lanes, and I’ve been informed that Allen Halacy, representing AMF Auburn Lanes, threw a 300 game in the league today. Congrats! 😀
Howard Cohen throws 11 in a row 299 in Westgate Mixed
Congrats to Howard Cohen on a fine 299 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League! 😀
Sean Richard makes perfection a habit in His & Hers
I’ll say it, if no one else has: Sean Richard has been the hottest bowler at Westgate Lanes. The most recent case in point is his fourth 300 game of the season at Westgate Lanes tonight in the His & Hers league, to go along with three 800 series at Westgate and another 300 in the NAT in Gardner. “Seany Kash” also now has at least one honor score in each of his leagues this season except the Coke Classic League.
Congrats again! 😀
Chuck Gerlach, Dan Esdale post 300s in Patriots
Congrats to both Chuck Gerlach and Dan Esdale, both with 300 games last night in the Patriots league. These are the 8th and 9th perfect games in the league this season…crazy! 😀
Sean Richard bowls 804 set in Westgate Mixed
“Seany Kash” has struck again, with games of 257, 279, and 268 for an 804 series tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. Sean informed me of the set on Facebook, and I’m trying to ascertain if he was clean the whole night (I don’t care what anyone says, 30-clean is still a feat in today’s bowling.). Congrats again, Sean! 😀
Jeff Carter perfect in Thursday Handicap Doubles
No video on this one, but Jeff Carter followed Jason Sherwood’s 300 game in the Patriots league on his heels with one of his own tonight in the mixed doubles league. Jeff, you’ll recall, had the 300 game in the Bowler of the Year tournament back in November. Congrats again Jeff! 😀
Jason Sherwood bowls 300 in Patriots league
Congrats to Jason Sherwood on a 300 game tonight in the Patriots league. The original video below was shot by his teammate, Jason Oh, but I uploaded to my YouTube account to take advantage of the site’s image stabilization.
Jessica Lowe posts 289 game, 743 set in TNBA
Congrats to Jessica Lowe on games of 289, 232, and 222 (not necessarily in that order) for a 743 series last Friday night in the TNBA league. The 289 game is the high game this season at Westgate Lanes for a woman.
Sean Richard bowls first sanctioned NAT perfect game
Congrats to Sean “Seany Kash” Richard on bowling a 300 game today in the Northeast Amateur Tournament’s first USBC-sanctioned event at Gardner Ten Pin. He told me he was the last Westgate Lanes bowler left in the tournament, but didn’t make the final round, so I’ll make a future post on all of the Westgate Lanes cashers along with the result of the title match.
Keith Tantillo throws 11 in a row 297 in Sunday Niters
Congrats to Keith Tantillo on an 11 in a row 297 game last Sunday night in the Sunday Niters league! 😀
Jim Donaher scores 11 in a row 290 in His & Hers
Last season, Jim Donaher earned his first 300 ring in 50+ years of bowling, and he’ll now be adding the new crystal 11 in a row award to his trophy shelf, as he posted a 290 game Tuesday night in the His & Hers league. Congrats Jim! 😀
Sean Richard posts 816 set in Westgate Mixed
Congrats to Sean Richard, with an 816 series tonight in the Westgate Mixed League consisting of games of 246, 289, and 279. It is now the high series at Westgate Lanes this season. 😀
Mike Trent bowls perfect game in Patriots league
Congrats to Mike Trent on yet another 300 game, the 6th of the season in the league, for the Patriots league last Thursday! 😀
Nick Sauve throws first 300 game in youth league
Congrats to Nick Sauve, who bettered his season-high game in the senior youth league with his first 300 game last week. As an aside, Ray told me he threw the perfecto in the first game with a brand new Tropical Breeze, which makes me happy as an unofficial member of “Storm Nation.” 😀
Dave Townson throws 290 game in Thursday mixed doubles
I always like when I get to mention something done by my first league secretary, and I get to do so again now, as Dave Townson had an 11 in a row 290 game last Thursday in the mixed doubles league. Congrats! 😀
Harry Thibeault posts perfecto in Westgate Mixed
Congrats to Harry Thibeault on a 300 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. It’s nice to see him back on the honor score tally. 😀
Ed Alfieri posts perfect game in Westgate Mixed
Congrats to Ed Alfieri on his third career 300 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League! 😀
Keith Tantillo throws 299 game in Coke league
Congrats to Keith Tantillo, who posted an 11 in a row 299 game last night in the Coke Classic League. I believe the league was still bowling on the Kegel “Sunset Strip” pattern. 😀
Nick Sauve throws 11 in a row 298 in youth league
Congrats to Nick Sauve, who threw his first honor score last Saturday with an 11 in a row 298 game in the senior league of the youth program. 😀
Sean Richard shoots 11 in a row 290 in Patriots
Honor scores from the Patriots league haven’t exactly been flying under the radar this season, but the one I’m posting about did until tonight: Sean Richard had a 290 game (11 in a row) last week. Congrats again, Ka$h! 😀
Dana Gomes throws first 300 game in Brunswick Mixed
You read the title right…a perfect game in my league, the first in the league since I joined it four years ago, thrown by Dana Gomes of “The 5 G’s,” which was his first ever. Congrats Dana! 😀
Tina Gannon posted 711 series in Coke league
Don’t ask me how I missed this…Tina Gannon had a 245 high game in a 711 series on Oct. 15 in the Coke Classic League. WTG Tina! 😀
Kris Voss throws 280 game in Thursday Handicap Doubles
Saw Kris Voss mention on Facebook in a post from last night that she had a 280 game that night in the Thursday mixed doubles league. Way to go, Kris! 😀
Nov. 2012 NEBA honor score note
Meant to mention this earlier, but Jon Van Hees, just back in New England from the World Series of Bowling in Las Vegas, posted an 11 in a row 290 game in the fifth game to get into the 9:00 AM Sunday squad cut.
Also wanted to mention that the tournament was contested on the Kegel Boardwalk pattern, a pattern Alex Aguiar historically has excelled on at Westgate Lanes.
Steve Healy shoots 300 in Westgate Mixed
I’ll be wrapping up my catch-up tomorrow with a good post, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention tonight that Steve Healy had a 300 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. Congrats Steve! 😀
R.J. Martinez throws 300 game in NEBA at Westgate Lanes
Congrats to R.J. Martinez, who had the third 300 game of this weekend’s NEBA tournament during the 12:30 qualifying squad today. The last strike is shown below.
Many of my readers already know who won, but my post of the results will be awaiting NEBA’s video of the title match.
