Carl Nordstrom, Harry Thibeault, Tim Major throw 299 games in Westgate Mixed

Congrats to Carl Nordstrom and Harry Thibeault, who each had a 299 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. Carl’s came in the first game, while Harry’s happened in the second game. If there are any other honor scores from tonight in that league, I’ll post an update when I see their updated standings.

EDIT: I found out from Adam Johndrow on Facebook, and confirmed through a league source, that Tim Major also had a 299 game in the second game of the night in the league, so congrats to Tim, as well. 😀

Sean Richard breaks six-year-old Westgate Lanes average record

I’ve been pretty much sitting on this for a couple of weeks, and had been waiting until the final standings for the league were posted, but I’ve been told that that may not happen, so I’m running with this now…

Congratulations to Sean Richard, who has posted a 235.1 average for the 2010-11 season in the Brockton Ten Pin Men’s Invitational League. This breaks a six-year-old house record, which was 232 by Bill Major (which league is unknown to me, as the old record was set before my return to the game). Sean had a high game of 289 and a high series of 788 in the league this season.

If the final standings are posted online, I will add it to this post as a comment. Also, as it is a house record, I felt this post worthy enough to categorize as an honor score post.

Congrats again, Sean! 😀

Ed Godino III throws 11 in a row 298 game in Brunswick Mixed League

I saw my 288 fall as the high game in my league tonight, as Ed Godino III started his night with an 11 in a row 298 game, with his bid for a perfect 300 spoiled by a “fast eight” (the 4-7). It was the first honor score in the league in my time in it. My hope for getting the high game prize now rests mostly on Ed winning the average prize; going into tonight, Shawn had a slim lead on Ed for average, but the first game alone improved Ed’s average by better than a pin, and it looked like 700 would be in the bag after his second game. Shawn, for his part, told me he didn’t have a great night.

Congrats again, Ed! 😀

March 2011 Northeast Junior Scratch Tour at Westgate Lanes

I’m going to list the winners below, followed by a wrap-up of qualifying. As not all of the divisions had stepladder match play, the note next to each winner will include either their six-game qualifying total or the result of the title match if there was match play.

Prep: Nick Flake (1,147)
Junior Boys: Kevin Thibeault (1,257)
Major: Joshua Regnier (def. Shane Holt 237-197)
Girls: Catherine Bell (def. Jadee Scott-Jones 224-212)
Collegiate: Joe Mello (def. Ryan Graywacz 216-215)

In qualifying, Shane Holt had a perfect 300 game, and Jadee Scott-Jones had a high game of 275.

2011 Brockton Bowling Association Championships, Day 2

I was back at the lanes for the team event today, and the lanes continued to be tough, as the high game in the day’s singles and doubles squad was a 279 thrown in singles by Bill Major. The tournament finally yielded an honor score in today’s team squad, however, when Ralph Marple (yes, my former summer league teammate) threw a first-game 300 for what turned out to be the only honor score of the tournament. Congrats, Ralph! 😀

The unofficial results will be linked here when the association has them available on their website.

As an aside, Rai Doblmeier, the association’s reigning Bowler of the Year, used his paid major tournament entry to enter this week’s US Open at Brunswick Zone Carolier in New Brunswick, NJ, so good luck to Rai in that event. 😀
