I’ve noted that Carl Nordstrom, who bowls on Wednesday nights in my league, pitched a perfect 300 game Thursday in the Thursday Handicap Doubles league. Congrats Carl! 😀

Derrick Thibeault perfect (again) in Westgate Mixed League
Derrick Thibeault, who had the first 300 of the season on the opening night of the Westgate Mixed League, achieved perfection for a single game again in the same league last night. Congrats again, Derrick. 😀
Tina Gannon throws perfect game in Coke Classic League
Congrats to Tina Gannon on a 300 game in the Coke Classic League on Monday night, which is the first honor score for a woman at Westgate Lanes this season. The 300 helped her to a 754 series.
Patiparn Sukkham rolls 11 in a row in Coke Classic League
Getting caught up with results in the other leagues at Westgate Lanes, I noted that Patiparn Sukkham rolled an 11-in-a-row 296 last Monday night in the Coke Classic League. Congratulations to him. 😀
Brockton USBC Bowling Association Bowler of the Year results
The Brockton Bowling Associaton reported Ryan Yelle as the winner of the 2009 Bowler of the Year Tournament, defeating Jason Sherwood 198-188 in the title match. It was in the round of 8 where Yelle made the most news, however, as he posted a 566 two-game score which included a 300 in the second game. Click the link above for a more detailed recap.
Kris Higgins throws 299 game in TNBA League
I finally saw the results from Week 1 of the Friday night TNBA League, and have noted that Kris Higgins posted the second honor score of the young season at Westgate Lanes last week with a 299 game. Congrats Kris! 😀
Derick Thibeault posts 300 in Westgate Mixed League
Unless someone last night did so, Derick Thibeault posted the first 300 game of the 2009-10 season at Westgate Lanes tonight in the Westgate Mixed League, rolling the perfect game in the second game of the night. Congrats again, Derick! 😀
Ray Fischer rolls 299 in Thursday Adult/Junior League
I haven’t been following the summer league standings closely (other than my own league), but a casual check of the other summer leagues at Westgate Lanes told me that Ray Fischer recently shot a 299 game in the Thursday Adult/Junior league. Congrats Ray! 😀
July 2009 NEBA results
NEBA reported Stephen Dale Jr. as the winner of the tournament on July 25 and 26 at AMF Holiday Lanes in Somerset, MA. Dale defeated Scott Santos by a score of 212-204 in the championship match. For bowlers associated with Westgate Lanes, Brian Egan and Alex Aguiar also cashed.
Congratulations also to Rob Grexer and Tony Reynaud, who both had perfect 300 games during qualifying.
300 lightning strikes twice for Brendan Litchfield
This bit of news I received by way of his aunt on Facebook…
Brendan Litchfield has shot 2 300 games in less than a two month span. The first one occurred in the state youth tournament on May 3 at AMF Holiday Lanes in Somerset, and he would then add another one on Friday night at Westgate Lanes in the Friday night summer youth league.
Congrats again, Brendan! 😀 (I’ve congratulated him on Facebook before posting this.)
John Kunan shoots 11-in-a-row 298 in Westgate Mixed League
Forgot to mention this last night, but, while I was watching my league’s roll-off, the Westgate Mixed League had their position round, and John Kunan was the star, missing a 300 game in the first game by leaving the 2-8 double-wood in the 12th frame for a 298. Maybe next time, John. 😀
Dan Esdale shoots perfect 300 game in Westgate Mixed League
Congrats to Dan Esdale on having the 10th 300 game at Westgate Lanes this season in the Westgate Mixed League on Wednesday night, which is the 4th 300 game of the season in said league. 😀
Bob Hamilton bowls 2nd 300 of season in TNBA League
Congrats to Bob Hamilton on rolling his second 300 game of the season, this time on Friday night in the TNBA League. Bob’s previous 300 came in the Westgate Mixed League earlier in the season. Friday night’s 300 was also the 9th overall at Westgate Lanes this season, and the 2nd in the league this season.
Friday night was a high-scoring night in the TNBA League, as it turned out, as David Salo and Grant Henderson III each just missed perfect games w/ 299 scores, and Salo just missed an 800 series with a 797 set. Congrats to those two, as well. 😀
Steve Healy rolls 300 game in Brockton Ten Pin League
I’m usually late getting to Tuesday night scores because I’m not at the lanes on that night, but I noted in the standings sheet today that Steve Healy shot a perfect 300 game Tuesday night in the Brockton Ten Pin League. This brings the season total of 300 games at Westgate Lanes to eight. Congrats Steve! 😀
John Kunan and Craig McPherson fire (nearly) identical 811 sets in Westgate Mixed League
The Westgate Mixed League saw two bowlers post 811 scores tonight, by John Kunan and Craig McPherson. They were also very nearly identical, as both had 297 games in their last game. Kunan was the more consistent of the two in the first two games, starting with a 254 and a 260, while McPherson started strong with a 279 followed by a 245 second game.
Congrats again John and Craig! 😀
Bob Young shoots 11-in-a-row 290 in Westgate Mixed League
Also Wednesday night, Bob Young posted an 11-in-a-row 290 game in the Westgate Mixed League. Unless he threw a gutter ball in the 12th frame, I’ll assume he started with a spare and finished with the 11 consecutive strikes. Nice game in any event, Bob! 😀
Amy Aldridge rolls 735 series in Westgate Mixed League
Amy Aldridge posted a 735 series Wednesday night in the Westgate Mixed League, which is now high series by a woman this season at Westgate Lanes. The set was paced by a 268 game. Nice shooting, Amy! 😀
Sean Richard posts 800 series in Westgate Mixed League
Congratulations again to Sean Richard, who rolled his second 800 series of the season (and the second at Westgate Lanes this season) last Wednesday night in the Westgate Mixed League. Sean sandwiched a 279 game between a pair of 269 games to accomplish the feat with an 817 total.
Sean Richard scores 800 series in Sunday Niters League
Been sitting on this one until I saw the score posted on Bowler Express:
Sean Richard, subbing in the Sunday Niters League, shot games of 227, 276, and 297 for the first 800 series of the season at Westgate Lanes on Feb. 22. Congratulations Sean! 😀
NEBA tournament note: Sean Richard’s 800 came on a day when he also rolled a 295 @ E. Providence Lanes en route to cashing in last weekend’s NEBA event, which was won by the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen League’s own Alex Aguiar. Nice bowling all around, guys. 😀
Jessica Lowe rolls 300 in Westgate Mixed League
I congratulated her at the end of the night, but to make it “official,” congratulations to Jessica Lowe on shooting a perfect 300 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. It is the first 300 by a woman at Westgate Lanes this season, the 7th of the season at Westgate Lanes overall, and the 3rd of the season in the Westgate Mixed League.
Tom Hedding rolls perfect 300 in Westgate Lanes youth league
Congrats to Tom Hedding, who rolled the second perfect game of the season in the Senior division of the youth league at Westgate Lanes on Saturday. 😀
Sean Richard shoots 299 game in Brockton USBC Bowling Association championships
Also been meaning to post this, but Sean Richard had informed me that he had bowled a 299 game in his singles event (Feb. 1 squad) in the Brockton USBC Bowling Association championships at North Bowl Lanes. Nice game, Sean! 😀
Amy Aldridge posts 279 game in Westgate Mixed
Another notable event I missed in the league standings…
Amy Aldridge recently fired a 279 game in the Westgate Mixed league, which is the highest game by a female to date in the 2008-09 season at Westgate Lanes. Nice shooting, Amy! 😀
Rai Doblmeier rolls 300 in Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen
Pardon me for not noticing this sooner…
Rai Doblmeier shot a 300 game in the second game (of four) in the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen league at Westgate Lanes on February 3. The perfect game came on the Kegel “Route 66” oil pattern, and was the fifth perfect game at Westgate Lanes in the 2008-09 season. Congrats Rai! 😀
Mike Zeoli nearly perfect in Westgate Mixed League
Looking at the updated standings in the other Wednesday night league, the Westgate Mixed League, I noted that Mike Zeoli posted the second 298 game at Westgate Lanes this week. Congrats Mike! 😀
Brian “Hawk” Earle posts 298 in Coke Classic League
A quick scan of the available standings sheets on Bowler Express shows that Brian “Hawk” Earle rolled a 298 game this week in the Coke Classic League, which is the high game for the season in that league. The game qualifies for the USBC’s “11 In A Row” award, so congrats Hawk! 😀
Jessica Lowe shoots 278 game, 733 series in TNBA league
Congratulations to Jessica Lowe of the Friday night TNBA league, who fired a 733 series in that league’s latest session, which is the highest series for a woman at Westgate Lanes to date this season. The series was paced by a 278 game, which ties Melissa Peterson (Westgate Mixed) for high game by a woman at Westgate Lanes this season. Good bowling, Jessica! 😀
Riding the see-saw
Because of an error in the scheduling, tonight was not the position round, and we had a regular match against Team 3 instead. My own performance was up and down like a see-saw tonight, with a clean 208 first game, a horrible second game, and an average third game in which I was clutch in the 10th frame after the opposing team’s anchor bowler left the “Greek Church” split (the 4-6-7-9-10) in the frame, winning the third game point for my team (our only point of the night). I’m hoping the coming two weeks off (for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) will do me some good. I think the first half position round will now be in the first full week of the new year.
Result: 208-129-175=512
Average (48 games): 180 Last 9 games average: 184
New AVG+1 score: 586
Bob Hamilton perfect: There was a commotion down the other end of the center around the end of the first game, but I didn’t think to ask someone in the Westgate Mixed League about it until the third game started. When I did, I found out that my buddy Bob Hamilton threw a perfect 300 in the first game, which was the second 300 in the league this season. Congrats Bobby! 😀
Brunswick Mixed League standings update
My league’s standings seem to update on Fridays, and will always be found at the link I posted in the sidebar, so readers are directed to check there for the update on Fridays.
As for this week, my team dropped into a tie for last place with “The Handicaps” and “Backyard Bowlers.” Keep in mind that it is a split season, and the first half will end with a position round the week before Christmas.
Another recent 300: I had forgotten to post earlier that Danny Khuu shot another 300 in the youth league earlier this month, so congratulations to him.
Hanging in there
About the only thing I could feel good about tonight was my spare game, as I made most of the spares I could make, and I needed those spares to keep the night from getting out of hand. The second game was the only game I could get strikes in, it seemed, so my spares helped me stay over 500 tonight. The team bowled against a team with two of the top 3 average bowlers in the league, and they had good nights, so the team got creamed, failing to win a point.
Result: 155-191-167=513
Average (24 games): 179 Last 9 games average: 177
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 541
Perfect game rolled in Westgate Mixed League: I’ve never had a 300 shot in the same building and at the same time I was bowling, but it happened tonight, as Harry Thibeault, Jr. shot the first perfect game of the season in the Westgate Mixed League in the second game. As he is a customer of the pro shop, I spotted him at the end of the night going in to have a Polaroid picture taken for the “Wall of Fame,” and I made like I was going to join him for the picture as a playful congratulatory gesture before leaving him alone for the photo. Congrats Harry! 😀
