Brockton USBC Bowling Association Bowler of the Year results

The Brockton Bowling Associaton reported Ryan Yelle as the winner of the 2009 Bowler of the Year Tournament, defeating Jason Sherwood 198-188 in the title match. It was in the round of 8 where Yelle made the most news, however, as he posted a 566 two-game score which included a 300 in the second game. Click the link above for a more detailed recap.

300 lightning strikes twice for Brendan Litchfield

This bit of news I received by way of his aunt on Facebook…

Brendan Litchfield has shot 2 300 games in less than a two month span. The first one occurred in the state youth tournament on May 3 at AMF Holiday Lanes in Somerset, and he would then add another one on Friday night at Westgate Lanes in the Friday night summer youth league.

Congrats again, Brendan! 😀 (I’ve congratulated him on Facebook before posting this.)

Bob Hamilton bowls 2nd 300 of season in TNBA League

Congrats to Bob Hamilton on rolling his second 300 game of the season, this time on Friday night in the TNBA League. Bob’s previous 300 came in the Westgate Mixed League earlier in the season. Friday night’s 300 was also the 9th overall at Westgate Lanes this season, and the 2nd in the league this season.

Friday night was a high-scoring night in the TNBA League, as it turned out, as David Salo and Grant Henderson III each just missed perfect games w/ 299 scores, and Salo just missed an 800 series with a 797 set. Congrats to those two, as well. 😀

John Kunan and Craig McPherson fire (nearly) identical 811 sets in Westgate Mixed League

The Westgate Mixed League saw two bowlers post 811 scores tonight, by John Kunan and Craig McPherson. They were also very nearly identical, as both had 297 games in their last game. Kunan was the more consistent of the two in the first two games, starting with a 254 and a 260, while McPherson started strong with a 279 followed by a 245 second game.

Congrats again John and Craig! 😀

Sean Richard scores 800 series in Sunday Niters League

Been sitting on this one until I saw the score posted on Bowler Express:

Sean Richard, subbing in the Sunday Niters League, shot games of 227, 276, and 297 for the first 800 series of the season at Westgate Lanes on Feb. 22. Congratulations Sean! 😀

NEBA tournament note: Sean Richard’s 800 came on a day when he also rolled a 295 @ E. Providence Lanes en route to cashing in last weekend’s NEBA event, which was won by the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen League’s own Alex Aguiar. Nice bowling all around, guys. 😀

Jessica Lowe shoots 278 game, 733 series in TNBA league

Congratulations to Jessica Lowe of the Friday night TNBA league, who fired a 733 series in that league’s latest session, which is the highest series for a woman at Westgate Lanes to date this season. The series was paced by a 278 game, which ties Melissa Peterson (Westgate Mixed) for high game by a woman at Westgate Lanes this season. Good bowling, Jessica! 😀

Riding the see-saw

My Week 16 bowling (BowlSK)

Because of an error in the scheduling, tonight was not the position round, and we had a regular match against Team 3 instead. My own performance was up and down like a see-saw tonight, with a clean 208 first game, a horrible second game, and an average third game in which I was clutch in the 10th frame after the opposing team’s anchor bowler left the “Greek Church” split (the 4-6-7-9-10) in the frame, winning the third game point for my team (our only point of the night). I’m hoping the coming two weeks off (for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) will do me some good. I think the first half position round will now be in the first full week of the new year.

Result: 208-129-175=512
Average (48 games): 180 Last 9 games average: 184
New AVG+1 score: 586

Bob Hamilton perfect: There was a commotion down the other end of the center around the end of the first game, but I didn’t think to ask someone in the Westgate Mixed League about it until the third game started. When I did, I found out that my buddy Bob Hamilton threw a perfect 300 in the first game, which was the second 300 in the league this season. Congrats Bobby! 😀

Brunswick Mixed League standings update

My league’s standings seem to update on Fridays, and will always be found at the link I posted in the sidebar, so readers are directed to check there for the update on Fridays.

As for this week, my team dropped into a tie for last place with “The Handicaps” and “Backyard Bowlers.” Keep in mind that it is a split season, and the first half will end with a position round the week before Christmas.

Another recent 300: I had forgotten to post earlier that Danny Khuu shot another 300 in the youth league earlier this month, so congratulations to him.

Hanging in there

My Week 8 bowling (BowlSK)

About the only thing I could feel good about tonight was my spare game, as I made most of the spares I could make, and I needed those spares to keep the night from getting out of hand. The second game was the only game I could get strikes in, it seemed, so my spares helped me stay over 500 tonight. The team bowled against a team with two of the top 3 average bowlers in the league, and they had good nights, so the team got creamed, failing to win a point.

Result: 155-191-167=513
Average (24 games): 179 Last 9 games average: 177
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 541

Perfect game rolled in Westgate Mixed League: I’ve never had a 300 shot in the same building and at the same time I was bowling, but it happened tonight, as Harry Thibeault, Jr. shot the first perfect game of the season in the Westgate Mixed League in the second game. As he is a customer of the pro shop, I spotted him at the end of the night going in to have a Polaroid picture taken for the “Wall of Fame,” and I made like I was going to join him for the picture as a playful congratulatory gesture before leaving him alone for the photo. Congrats Harry! 😀
