While Rob Young was having a big night at the low end of Westgate Lanes, Jeff Carter, subbing in the Thursday Handicap Doubles league, which they’ve relocated to the high end of the house this year, threw a 300 game of his own. WTG Jeff! 🙂

Rob Young shoots 300/805 in Patriots league
Rob Young has been the most successful bowler in the Patriots league this season, and showed it again the other night with games of 257, 300, and 248 for an 805 series. Proving some Westgate bowlers wrong, his big night came on lanes 17 & 18…and they say you can’t score at the low end of the house at Westgate Lanes. 😉
Congrats Rob! 🙂
Apr. 6 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 31 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I had a night tonight where I did a lot of things right, mainly put strikes together and not give away pins on single-pin misses. Most of my trouble came with more than one pin on the deck, but I still managed to convert a couple of splits. I probably wanted the start of the first game back, where I had back-to-back washouts on the same lane.
Result: 153-198-185=536
Average (93 games): 169
Average for last 9 games: 174
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 519
Composite average (174 games): 167
Team won three of four, with Donald going over average all three games and Barry getting a 517 series. The last game was winnable, where I could have put the screws to the other anchor if I threw the first strike in the 10th; I threw a good shot and I just got a bad break on the 10.
Apr. 4 Sunday Niters standings update
After winning four points from Adam & Steve, Pin Pals are in 6th place and will bowl against OSIMAS, who are tied for 4th with Bowling Stones, two points ahead of us. Ten Is Enough are the new leaders, with Where Is B? three points behind in 2nd and Suzy’s Crew four points behind in 3rd. Macs won the first half, so a roll-off is guaranteed, at a time to be decided after bowling Sunday night.
Winter 2016 Week 12 virtual league results
Mad Blogger & Co. won five points from the first place team, Pay the Lineage, and we are now six points out of the lead in fourth place, two points behind Team 2 for second, and a point behind Little Lebowski for third with three weeks left.
Apr. 3 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 29 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I’d probably like to have the second game back tonight, but the other two were better, and really the first time in a while I’ve had two decent games out of the three (if you consider 190+ decent).
Result: 204-136-193=533
Average (81 games): 164
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 531
Composite average (171 games): 167
Lee couldn’t go again because of his knee. Team won the two games I did well in, but we got smoked in the other one for total. I’m hoping the four points keeps us in the top half of the standings.
Apr. 2 Brunswick Mixed standings update
After winning three points from Lost Empire 2, Seven Deadly Pins are in a tie for 10th with Spare Us, 10 points behind Creeden’s Mustangs, who are a point and a half ahead of 4 BAGA + 1 and four ahead of Sweet Rolls, Steak and Lettuce, and Lickety Splits, whom I’ve mentioned bowl against us Wednesday night.
Mar. 30 Sunday Niters standings update
After winning four points from The Minions 2, Pin Pals are tied for 5th with Bowling Stones, eight points behind a tie for the lead between Suzy’s Crew and Ten Is Enough, with Where Is B? in 3rd a point behind and OSIMAS six behind in 4th. For opponents, my team is bowling Adam & Steve Sunday, with the two leaders bowling against each other, Where Is B? against OSIMAS, and Bowling Stones against Pinknockers.
Mar. 30 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 30 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I ran into carrydown tonight, which not only made my ball labor to get to the pocket, but also made my left side spares a mystery, and I had plenty of those. Two splits to end the third game prevented that game from being better.
Result: 170-136-155=461
Average (90 games): 169
Average for last 9 games: 168
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 545
Composite average (168 games): 167
Team won the first two games by a total of 123 pins and still had to hang on to win total by 47. Si had one of his best nights of the season, nearly getting 500.
I made two finals in brackets last week, winning them both, over Shawn Coles and Jim Andersen.
Elsewhere in the league, one of the league’s long-timers, Steve Geddes, bowled his first 600 series tonight, using a 221 last game to get a 605. We bowl his team, Lickety Splits, next week.
Winter 2016 Week 11 virtual league results
Mad Blogger & Co. won five points (first & third games, plus total) from Chico’s Bail Bonds, and we are now tied for 4th with The Pin Pals, nine points behind Pay the Lineage, who are seven points ahead of Team 2 and Little Lebowski. Our effort was aided by Fin09’s 290 first game.
Ken Norris throws 300 game in Sunday Niters
This blog’s archives, going back to 2007, only show one 300 game in the Sunday Niters league, thrown by Ken Norris in December of 2009, but none since then until tonight, when Ken again threw 12 in a row. WTG Kenny! 🙂
EDIT: It should also be noted that this is also the first honor score in the league since I joined it last fall, as well. 🙂
Mar. 27 Sunday Niters recap
Yes, we bowled on Easter…
My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I did just enough tonight to maintain my +1 score for next week. There were more open frames in the first two games, but a double in each of them, as well. A couple of 10 pin misses did in the third game.
Result: 161-167-167=495
Average (78 games): 164
Average for last 9 games: 168
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 569
Composite average (165 games): 167
Lee was having an issue with his slide knee tonight, so didn’t bowl, and we did just well enough to split the points 4-4, with us winning the first and third games. The strike in the 10th third game came with the game nearly tied, and a spare by the other anchor would have forced me to come up with a second one, but he missed the spare.
Mar. 26 Brunswick Mixed standings update
After winning a point from Mixed Nuts, Seven Deadly Pins are in a tie in points for 11th with three other teams, 10 points behind Creeden’s Mustangs, who lead Steak and Lettuce by two points, 4 BAGA + 1 by 2.5 points, and three teams by five points. Lost Empire 2 will be our opponents Wednesday night.
UPDATE: Updating the weekly high scores, I had the high scratch series in the men’s “C” division last week.
Sean Richard posts 300 game in TNBA league
Sean Richard added to his 300 game total tonight in the TNBA league, but even I can appreciate his latest 300 game story, as he related on Facebook: It was the first game out of the box with a new ball, Radical’s Jackpot; given that his nickname is “$eany Ka$h”, the name of the ball is fitting. Good job Seany! 🙂
Mar. 23 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 29 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I had one of my most consistent nights of the season, with only one open in each game, and I could blame at least one of those on a bad break where I hit the spare perfectly, but had the 4 wrap around the 7 on a cluster. This is my third high series of the season in this league, where I shot my high series (578) twice.
Result: 186-188-196=570
Average (87 games): 170
Average for last 9 games: 178
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 586
Composite average (162 games): 167
Team won first game, but it was a matter of one bowler on the other team getting hot in one game to win the second and third games. Even with the highest average bowler on the other team having a 235 game, I was still high on the pair for the night.
8th annual Children’s Miracle Network Tournament of Champions
I’ve never known about this until now, but, for the 8th year, the Children’s Miracle Network is running a Tournament of Champions at Westgate Lanes. It is open to all Westgate Lanes league bowlers, with in-league qualifying running through April 29 and an eliminator finals running on May 1. Entry is $10/team (doubles, with cross-entries allowed), with a grand prize of four loge box tickets to a Red Sox home game. 100% of the proceeds will go to Boston Children’s Hospital through the CMN. You may email Neward Yee for details. Teams should be members of the same league, as the league name will go on the trophy.
Ed Godino III bowls 299 in TNBA league
I’ve already noted Grant Henderson III’s perfecto Friday night, but there was another score in the TNBA league that night, with Ed Godino III, who also bowls in my Wednesday night league, shooting 299. WTG! 🙂
Mar. 22 Sunday Niters standings update
After winning four points from Where Is B?, Pin Pals stand in 4th place, 12 points behind Suzy’s Crew, who lead Where Is B? by seven points and Ten Is Enough by eight points. The Minions 2 will be Sunday night’s opponents. There are three weeks left in the season.
Individually, Lee had the high series last week with a 676.
Winter 2016 Week 10 virtual league results
Mad Blogger & Co. won four points from The Pin Pals, but did it in the less common manner, tying the first game and winning the third by enough for total. We now stand in 4th place, 12 points behind Pay the Lineage, who now lead both Team 2 and Little Lebowski by 10 points. The team had the high team series of the week, and TimL had the individual high game and high game and series over-average.
Mar. 20 Sunday Niters note
Bowling without me, my team lost the first and third games by single-digit pins, but won the second game by 33 pins, so we got four points out of the match. Of course, the usual standings update will come soon.
Grant Henderson III bowls 300 in TNBA league
Not sure how many this is for him, but a lefty not named Sean Richard, Grant Henderson III, had a 300 game tonight in the TNBA league. Good bowling! 🙂
2016 Sunday Niters Week 27 note
I was unable to get out to Westgate Lanes today in time to pre-bowl for Sunday night ahead of the Friday night leagues, so I will be taking my absentee score. It will be the first time I haven’t either had normal participation or a pre-bowl in one of my leagues since I returned to league bowling in the summer of 2008.
Mar. 18 Brunswick Mixed standings update
After failing to win points against Spare Us, Seven Deadly Pins fell into a tie in points for 11th with Has Beens, seven points behind Creeden’s Mustangs, who are a point ahead of Steak and Lettuce and Sweet Rolls, two ahead of Lickety Splits, and 2.5 ahead of 4 BAGA + 1. We bowl against Mixed Nuts next week.
Mar. 16 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
This was really a good night except for a stretch of eight straight frames without a mark, six of them coming to start a trainwreck of a second game, in which only my late marks saved my 100. The third game was much better, almost making it a “century”.
Result: 173-112-203=488
Average (84 games): 169
Average for last 9 games: 168
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 556
Composite average (159 games): 166
Team ran into a couple of hot bowlers on the other team, the first of whom was better than 100 over his average on the night, and, as a result, it was hard for my team to win points.
Before I left, I heard that Gary Szeto of Sweet Rolls bowled his first 700 series tonight, so congrats to him. 🙂
Mar. 15 Sunday Niters standings update
After winning six points from The 3 Stooges, Pin Pals moved into 5th place, 14 points behind Suzy’s Crew, who lead Where Is B? (Sunday night’s opponents) by nine points, and The 3 Stooges and Ten Is Enough by 12 points.
With NEBA here this weekend, I’ll likely not be a normal participant in the league and will either pre-bowl or take my absent score, with the final decision being made Friday afternoon. I will post Friday if I pre-bowl.
Tim Riordan bowls perfecto in Coke league
The 300 number was proving a tough nut to crack in the Coke league this season, with a few bowlers scoring in the 290s, but Tim Riordan finally broke through with the first one of the season tonight. WTG! 🙂
Winter 2016 Week 9 virtual league results
Helped by a 30-clean night from Fin09, Mad Blogger & Co. won all seven from Little Lebowski and now stand in 4th place, 11 points behind Pay the Lineage, who lead Little Lebowski by seven points and Team 2 by 10 points. The team had the high team game (second game) for a second straight week.
Mar. 13 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 26 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Tonight was rather disappointing, as I never put together two strikes, and had some spare misses in the last game that left me only a pin over average on the night. Three single pin misses, and none were the 10.
Result: 174-171-148=493
Average (75 games): 164
Average for last 9 games: 163
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 569
Composite average (156 games): 166
Lee shot 738 tonight, but the real strength of the first game was Rachel, who had her personal best 185. Team won the first two games and hung on to win total by four pins.
Mar. 12 Brunswick Mixed standings update
After winning three points from Team 14, Seven Deadly Pins moved into a tie in points for 9th with Lost Empire 2 and Right Turn Clyde, four points behind the new leaders, Creeden’s Mustangs, who lead Lickety Splits by a point, 4 BAGA + 1 by point and a half, and Steak and Lettuce and Sweet Rolls by two points. Spare Us will be our Wednesday night opposition.
Mar. 11 Sunday Niters standings update
After winning all eight points from Macs, Pin Pals stand in a tie in points for 5th place with Bowling Stones, 14 points behind Suzy’s Crew, who lead Where is B? by five points and The 3 Stooges (our opponents Sunday night) by eight points.
Individually, Lee had both the high game (258) and series (706) of the week in the league.
