Fall 2015 Week 5 virtual league results

Furious Five won all seven points from The Lion Killers and have regained the lead, four points clear of VEGBAGS in second place and 4th and Roll and Team 8 tied for third, six points behind. I’m not sure if it’s a true average, but our team average is tied with Sphere Chuckers for high team average after five weeks.

wronghander, whom I’ve also posted about by his real name, Bill Sheehey, had his forum name added to the league’s “Honor Roll” page for the first time after submitting a 290 game last week. WTG Bill! 🙂

Oct. 11 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 5 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Best night of my season so far. I missed five spares, but only had to shoot at 14 of them, in large part because I was able to put four in a row together, then three in a row later, in the second game. 🙂

Result: 199-236-177=612
Average (12 games): 181
Average for last 9 games: 188
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 553

I seem to be able to feed off of Lee, because he had a great night, as well, putting up a 710. Team won all eight against the first place team, so we should be able to move closer to the lead. 🙂

Oct. 8 Sunday Niters standings update

After winning six points from Split Happens, Pin Pals are tied for 5th in points with three other teams, six points behind Team 15, who lead Where Is B?, Ten Is Enough, and Adam & Steve by four points. We bowl against the leading Team 15 Sunday night.

It’s the league’s practice to list the week’s high scores in a “bulletin board” on the standing sheet, listing a bowler’s high game over 200 and any series close to or over 600 (there was one 595 series mentioned this week). I made that list for the first time last week, and Lee’s 249 turned out to be the week’s high game again.

Oct. 7 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 5 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Brutal night to start, with my change to the Marvel Pearl to start the second game pretty much saving what score I had. I missed two single pins, but I had a boatload of tough spares and splits, including the 4-6-7 three times. I did convert one of the washouts, however.

Result: 128-177-184=490
Average (15 games): 178
Average for last 9 games: 176
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 549

I still managed to be high on the pair, with Barry’s double in the 10th third game helping us win the one point we did.

EDIT: Almost forgot that brackets started in the league last week, with me finishing second to Hy Bao (one of the Coke league bowlers who has joined Brunswick Mixed this year) and Shawn in my two finals for the $1 loss.

Fall 2015 Week 4 virtual league results

Furious Five won three points (third game & total) from Sphere Chuckers to fall a point behind VEGBAGS in second place. Team 2 and Team 8 are in a tie for third, five points behind the lead.

One of the subs, Stubs, posted a 300 game for 4th and Roll, and this might be the first example in this virtual league of a bowler bowling an honor score in his very first week of participation.

Oct. 4 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 4 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

After two weeks without one, I broke my deuce game “ice” in this league in my first game tonight. After never really having been a multi-league bowler in my bowling life, I’m finding my consistency between my two leagues, as I only missed last Wednesday’s score by a pin tonight.

Result: 212-173-192=577
Average (9 games): 173
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 523

My five-bagger in the first game joined Lee’s run, with him finishing with a 249, and, combined with Rachel also bowling her personal best game (157), we won the first game easily. Lee wasn’t as good in the other two games, however, so I ended up high on the pair for the night, with the team also winning the second game for six points. Rachel ended up with probably her first 400 series (402).

Oct. 3 Brunswick Mixed standings update

After winning three from Team 14, Seven Deadly Pins is tied for 9th with three other teams (Lost Empire 2, Striking Gentlemen, and Ebony and Ivories), five points behind Spare Us, who lead Steak and Lettuce and Team 14 by two points, and Lickety Splits and Mixed Nuts by three. Ebony and Ivories will provide the opposition for my team in the coming week.

Sept. 30 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 5 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

In recent memory, this was one of my better overall efforts. Only the splits kept this from being better, because I had only one missed makeable spare all night (the 3-6-10) and at least a double in every game.

Result: 179-199-200=578
Average (12 games): 181
Average for last 9 games: 183
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 547

Team won the first and third games easily for the three points. I was the only bowler on the pair over 500.

Sept. 28 Brunswick Mixed standings update

After winning one point from Avengers Assemble, Seven Deadly Pins find ourselves in 12th place, five points behind Mixed Nuts and Team 14, who lead Has Beens, Lickety Splits, and Spare Us by a point, Creeden’s Mustangs by two points, and Jorge’s Hoe’s and Steak and Lettuce by three. Seven Deadly Pins will bowl against Team 14 this week.

Sept. 28 Sunday Niters standings update

After winning all eight from Three Turkeys, Pin Pals find ourselves tied for 7th with Pinknockers and Adam & Steve, 10 points behind Team 15, who lead by four over Where Is B? and Macs, and eight points over Split Happens, Three Turkeys, and Ten Is Enough. Pin Pals will bowl against Split Happens Sunday night.

Individually, Lee had the high game and second high series of the week.

When I received my copy of the league rules last night, I did find out that this league splits the season, as well, and there are two position rounds in each half.

Fall 2015 Week 3 virtual league results

Furious Five won five points from 4th and Roll and now lead VEGBAGS by a point and 4th and Roll by five points, with Team 2 and Team 8 also over the 50% points won/lost mark after three weeks. Scoring continues to be lower than normal, with the league only averaging 197+ this week and 196+ through three weeks. On the other hand, I’ve had one game over the league’s average each week (all of my 200 games).

Sept. 27 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 3 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I let my third game get away from me a bit tonight, but I was better overall than my debut in this league last week. Through five nights so far this season, I’ve had three nights where I was 80+% on single pins, and that makes me happy.

Result: 180-177-153=510
Average (6 games): 164
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 497

Team won two close-ish games before Lee found it in the third game for a 257, winning us the third game easily. Lee had a 621 on the night. 🙂

Sept. 23 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 3 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I fell apart the third game, but didn’t make many mistakes in the other two games, and the second game really should have been better with lack of carry. I’m at least avoiding shooting under 500 so far, so that should hold me in good stead if I continue with that.

Result: 203-179-142=524
Average (9 games): 178
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 543

Team won the first game on my 10th frame, but that ended up serving as a “wake-up call” to our opponents, as John Santarpia and Ken Gerraughty both posted 279s in the second game to win that game by over 200 pins, and the third game was a 100+ pin win for them, as well.

Thursday Night Patriots website launched

With the growth of the league in the last couple of years, Thursday Night Patriots secretary Joe Inglis has seen it fit to launch a website for the league, which may be a first for a league at Westgate Lanes. You’ll be able to follow all of the league news and scores on the new site, which I’ve added a link to in the sidebar under the “Local/New England” category.

Sept. 22 Brunswick Mixed standings update

After winning one point from Creeden’s Mustangs, Seven Deadly Pins (decided to spell out the number to avoid confusing Donna) are tied for 9th with that team, 4 BAGA, and Sweet Rolls, four points behind Team #14 (the only team in the league that hasn’t lost a point yet), who are a point ahead of Spare Us and Mixed Nuts. Avengers Assemble will be tomorrow night’s opponents.

As I forgot Sunday night’s opponents, I’ll post that team here, as well: Three Turkeys

Sept. 22 Sunday Niters standings update

The Sunday Niters league may turn out to be my quickest updating league with regard to standings, as I have the standings on LeagueSecretary.com the next night.

Pin Pals turned out to split 4-4 (eight point league) with Lexa (our opponents), and we are tied with them and OSIMAS for 12th (out of 16 teams), 10 points behind Three Turkeys and Team 15, who lead Where Is B? and Pinknockers by two points. Note: The league does not split a 30-week season; also, the team was not bowling until the second week of the league, so we’re at a slight disadvantage.

The administrivia for this post is, obviously, the addition of the link to the LeagueSecretary.com standings in the sidebar.

My Sunday Niters debut

My budget allowing for a second league this season, I thought that Sunday night was my best other night to bowl, and have joined the Sunday Niters league. Moe Morrison, the secretary, placed me on a team with Rachel McGovern and Lee Goss (trios league), the former who is bowling her first league and the latter returning after many years away. Hoping to channel some of my Brunswick Mixed debut, with agreement of my teammates, we named the team Pin Pals.

My Sunday Niters Week 2 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Unlike my first two weeks of Brunswick Mixed, for the most part, my Sunday Niters debut was a mixed bag, with a few good shots, but a lot of washouts, too. The positive was that I made all of my 10s, including the one I shot on my 7-10 split, but single pin misses on the left side counterbalanced that.

Result: 157-161-160=478
Average (3 games): 159
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 482

I’m not sure if I was the only one on the pair with an entering average, but I knew at least Rachel was averaging in, so I won’t know the team points until I see the standings.
