Apr. 22 league night recap

My Week 32 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

This started out like a copy of the week before last, with my teammates both having had to pre-bowl again, and I was struggling with some physical game issues early. However, unlike last time, I rallied late to save a 152, and bowled better the remainder of the night.

Result: 152-185-181=518
Average (96 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 551

My late rally in the first game was more or less needed for the point, but, though we won two games, our opponents got hot in the third game to steal total.

Nick Grossi posts 290 game in His & Hers

This one is late because of the problems we’ve been having getting BowlerExpress updated, but I noted in the recent on-site standing sheet for the His & Hers league that Nick Grossi recently had a 290 game, and a search of the back standing sheets indicated it was bowled on Mar. 17.

Congrats Nick, and sorry this has been delayed. 🙂

Apr. 20 league standings update

After winning one point from “The Incredibowls”, “Turkey Hunters” are tied for 15th with “Lickety Splits”, 14.5 points behind “Bowling Stones”, who lead “The 508 Boys” by 2.5 points and “No Names” by 4.5 points. In the last week before the second position week for the second half, we bowl against “Striking Gentlemen”; at the top, “Bowling Stones” bowl against Team 16, “The 508 Boys against “Spare Change”, and “No Names” against “Knock Em Down”

My Week 31 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I definitely found it tough to carry tonight (18 single pins), but neither did I help myself by missing single pins (five out of those 18). My spare game was at least better in the first game, and my only double of the night was in the 10th of that game to help me get to 190.

Result: 193-137-159=489
Average (93 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 565

Barry and I had the two best nights on the pair, but that could only net one point (the first game).

Winter 2015 Week 13 virtual league results

“Diamond Flush 2.0” won just two points from “Seven Wonders” and are now tied for 5th with Team 5, 16 points behind Team 3, who lead “The Big Red One” by seven points and can wrap the championship up in the coming week with enough points.

Individually, “Fin09”, one of the members of Team 3, posted games of 270, 269, and 263 for an 802 series, becoming the first bowler in the virtual league with two 800 series in the same league season. It was his third overall, also leading all-time.

Apr. 12 league standings update

After a point-less night against “The 508 Boys”, “Turkey Hunters” are in 15th place, 12.5 points behind “Bowling Stones”, who lead “The 508 Boys” by 2.5 points and “Y Not Us” by five points. “The Incredibowls” will be our opponents Wednesday night; at the top, “Bowling Stones” will bowl against “Knock em Down”, “The 508 Boys” against “Creeks Mustangs”, and “Y Not Us” against Team 6.

Chad Brown, a member of “Creeks Mustangs”, had a notable individual game last week, with a 289.

Apr. 8 league night recap

My Week 30 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

This was one of the weirdest league nights of my second bowling life. First, I was basically bowling alone because Barry couldn’t get out of a meeting and he and Donald had to pre-bowl for tonight on Sunday. Second, we were assigned to 29-30 for tonight, but had to be moved to 39-40 because of an issue with the scorer on 30 (the scorers are touchscreens, and the touchscreen at that lane wasn’t responding even after three reboots). As a creature of habit, my first game suffered with all of the non-routine stuff. Thankfully, I was able to settle in, and my other two games were better, saving a 514 after a 131 first game.

Result: 131-201-182=514
Average (90 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 178
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 550

Bowling my average first game still meant we would have lost by two pins, so I’m not going to blame myself too much for that one. Our opponents were mostly over average in the other two games, so that yielded a point-less night.

Apr. 7 league standings update

After winning three points from “Anger Management”, “Turkey Hunters” are in 13th place, 8.5 points behind “Bowling Stones”, who lead “No Names” and “Sweet Rolls” by a point and a half, and “Knock em Down” and “The 508 Boys” (our opponents tomorrow night) by 2.5 points.

Individually, Barry had the high scratch series (570) in the men’s “B” division last week.

Apr. 1 league night recap

My Week 29 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

The lanes seemed a bit tighter tonight than they have been, and I found my best success when I was able to slow my feet down. A couple of splits in the first game cost me a chance to have all three games over average.

Result: 164-169-190=523
Average (87 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 177
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 560

Barry had a good night, but as Donald went tonight, so did we; fortunately, Donald had two games over average, and the game under his average was the only point we lost.

Last week in brackets, I made it to two finals, beating Barry in one bracket and Jim Andersen in the other to double my money on the night.

Mar. 31 league standings update

After winning three points from “The Doables”, “Turkey Hunters” are now tied for 13th with Team 16, 10.5 points behind “Bowling Stones”, who lead “Knock Em Down” by 2.5 points, “Y Not Us” by three points, and “No Names” by 3.5 points. “Anger Management” will be the opposition tomorrow night.

Jason Correia shoots Westport house record 891 set

I didn’t want it to look like I’m rubbing a certain series bowled at Westgate Lanes in, but I also thought it might be worth mentioning that Jason Correia bowled games of 295, 300, and 296 for an 891 series tonight in the American Men league at Holiday Lanes in Westport, a new house and Southeastern Mass. association record, and what would have been the new state record until last month. Fine bowling just the same, Jason, and congrats! 😀

Mar. 25 league night recap

My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

After being sick for a few days, I was expecting just about anything in my performance spectrum tonight, and was happy it was at the higher end. Instead of losing steam as the night progressed, my scores improved each game, with my 211 third game also being clean, something else that has been rather rare this season.

Result: 177-180-211=568
Average (84 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 179
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 579

After Barry had two good games, I actually ended up high on the pair tonight, with Barry’s two good games being the ones we won for three points (with the point for total).

Last week in brackets, I made three finals, finishing second to Carol Andersen in two of them and second to Mike DiBenedetto in the other for the $1 profit on the week.

Mar. 25 league standings update

After winning two points from “Bowl Pack”, “Turkey Hunters” now stand in 16th place, 10.5 points behind a tie for first between “Y Not Us” and “Bowling Stones”, who lead “Sweet Rolls” by 1.5 points and “Knock Em Down” by 2.5 points. “The Doables” are the opponents tonight.

900 series league standings artifacts

I thought it would be interesting for my readers to see how Hakim Emmanuel’s 900 series looked on the Patriots league’s standing sheets. The first one is the BowlerExpress standing sheet dated March 5, which is the first sheet for that league I saw on the site since the 900 series because of a problem Westgate Lanes has been having with connectivity to the site. The other is the standing sheet put out by league secretary Joe Inglis the following week, which he kindly gave me a copy of and that I have recently been able to scan; thanks Joe! 😀
