Nov. 14 league night recap

Now for the post that gets me caught up…last night! 😀

My Week 11 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

A much bigger number was out there, but I let the second game get away from me, and if I approached my other two games, the 700 would have been had. The clean third game felt great, too…haven’t really had a game like that in a while. 😀

Result: 245-167-236=648
Average (33 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 190
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 530

I could take pride that the game and series were high on the pair even with one of the best bowlers in the league crossing lanes with me. As for the team, we took all four, with the team scoring 1,100 in the third game with handicap.

Last night was also the annual “Turkey Shoot” in the league, with a cash prize going to the bowler in each of the six average divisions (three for the men, three for the women) with the most pins over average on the night. I was 135 over, which at least put me in contention for the men’s “B” prize. 😀

Nov. 7 league night recap

Almost caught up with the backlog…this will be last week’s bowling…

My Week 10 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I just took a step back last week, with lack of good execution all around. It would figure, though, that I threw my best shot to end the night.

Result: 171-141-170=482
Average (30 games): 171
Average for last 9 games: 175
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 518

My team had a great night, however, starting out with three consecutive “star frames” (everyone with a mark in the frame) and ending with five of those on the night en route to a sweep.

Third post of backlog…

My Week 9 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Not quite the success of two weeks before, but still three games over average. The first game really showed me the potential of my Nano on this shot, though I threw two really poor shots in the 10th, the first to lose count on my double, and the second to lose count filling the spare.

Result: 224-188-176=588
Average (27 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 192
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 544

This was the only losing team night of the backlog stretch, winning only the third game, in which Berta pre-bowled a 191.

Second post of backlog…

My Week 8 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Not many strikes, and my spare game really let me down on this night, but I did see that my Nano became playable, which would pay future dividends.

Result: 168-180-157=505
Average (24 games): 170
Average for last 9 games: 182
Next week’s AVG+1: 529

Taking just a pin off the last-frame double wood leave proved costly, as we lost the third game forfeit point by a pin.

Oct. 17 league night recap

Going through a fit of insomnia after my most recent league night, I’m starting posting of the backlog sooner than I perhaps might want…

My Week 7 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

This was perhaps the first sign that I turned the corner with my game, with three of my most consistent games in some time. As I said in the BowlSK note in the third game, I probably should have changed balls sooner on the right lane, but recognizing that I had to may have saved my six.

Result: 227-197-211=635
Average (21 games): 170
Average for last 9 games: 174
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 521

Carl (first game) and Berta (third game) both had a game in the 180s to support me in a sweep of the points.

Fall 2012 Week 9 virtual league results

“Fantastic 4” took the lion’s share (five of seven) from “Front 9,” one of the teams close to the lead going into the week. “Fantastic 4” still managed to lose a position, falling to 5th, a point behind “Schnitzengiggles,” but the race for the lead got a lot closer, as my team is now just four points behind “Front 9” and Team 2 with three weeks left on the schedule.

Nov. 4 league standings update

As the issue with BowlSK is still unresolved (with Hurricane Sandy having a good deal to do with that), here were my week’s scores: 224, 188, and 176 for a 588 series.

My team took just the third game from “Split Happens,” and “Spare Parts” now sit in a tie for 7th with “The Incredibowls,” seven points behind “Dee’s Boys III,” who lead “There’s 3 and 2” and the aforementioned “Split Happens” by two points. My team’s bowling in the coming week will be for position, as we’re scheduled against “The Incredibowls.”

Oct. 30 league standings update

After winning three of four forfeit points, “Spare Parts” moved into a tie for 4th place with “The Mustangs,” “The 5 G’s,” “The Incredibowls,” and “Heavy Metal,” six points out of the lead held by “There’s 3 and 2”; that team leads “Dee’s Boys III” by two points and “Split Happens” (my team’s opponents tomorrow night, if we bowl) by three points.

Fall 2012 Week 7 virtual league results

As was the case last week, I’ll post my league night scores first: 168-180-157 for a 505 series.

“Fantastic 4” only managed three points against the vacant/bye team, and now stand in 9th place, seven points clear of the cellar, but 11 points behind a tie between “Front 9” and Team 2, who lead “Cold Turkey” by six points.

Oct. 24 league standings update

“Spare Parts” won all four points from “The Mustangs” last week, and my team is now in a tie for 6th place with “Sweet Rolls,” “Bowling Stones” (tonight’s opponents), “The Incredibowls,” and “The Girly Man” with 14 points, five points fewer than “There’s 3 and 2,” who hold a single point lead over “Dee’s Boys III” and lead by two over “Split Happens.”

Partly because of my “off” season last season, I now find myself in the men’s “B” division for the first time since I joined the Brunswick Mixed League, and I was second high scratch and handicap game and series in that division last week, trailing only Juan Rosario of “There’s 3 and 2” in all of those categories. Carl had the high handicap game in his division. Also, my performance last week earned me four USBC awards: 600 series, 200 game, 225 game, and 140 over average series (that last award category having been added last season).

Fall 2012 Week 6 virtual league results

Since the issue on BowlSK wasn’t resolved before standings for either my real league or my virtual league were posted online, I will say here that my scores last week were 227-197-211 for a 635 series.

“Fantastic 4,” with help from my big night, won all seven points from Team 7 and now stand in 9th place, 12 points behind Team 2, who lead “Front 9” and “Split Happens” by five points. Individually, I had the high over-average series of the week and also to date (149 pins over), and Rocket Jr. had the high scratch series of the week. Also notably, “champ,” a member of “Split Happens,” submitted his first career 300 game for last week.

Oct. 14 league standings update

After winning only one point from “The Girly Man,” “Spare Parts” sits in a four-way tie for 11th place, with “The Doables,” “The Incredibowls,” and “Heavy Metal” also involved. The logjam is seven points behind the new leaders, “Dee’s Boys III,” who lead “The Mustangs” (our opponents this week) and “There’s 3 and 2” by one point.

Oct. 10 league night recap

My Week 6 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

A bit better tonight, but I still find myself rather unable to put two strikes together, and my left side has suddenly become my “mystery” side on spares.

Result: 182-172-150=504
Average (18 games): 163
Average for last 9 games: 161
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 496

Team only won the first game, but the second game was there if I could put the second strike in the 10th up.

Oct. 9 league standings update

Splitting the points with “Deadwood” meant that “Spare Parts” remained in a tie with that team, but “Bowling Stones” joined the tie at 7th place, with the tie being seven points behind “The Mustangs,” with that team leading “There’s 3 and 2” by two points. “Spare Parts” will bowl “The Girly Man” tomorrow night.

Fall 2012 Week 4 virtual league results

My bad league night last week proved costly for my virtual team, “Fantastic Four,” as well, as we lost all seven to Team 10. As a result, we’re now in a tie for 9th with “Cold Turkey” and “Pocket Rockets,” seven points behind a tie for the lead between Teams 7 and 2, with Team 10 just a point behind the leaders.

Oct. 3 league night recap

My Week 5 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

My worst league night in a long time. I just couldn’t find a ball and/or area of the lane to play effectively, and I was bound to leave some difficult spares; missing four single pins didn’t help matters. Ray gave me some advice afterward to try to keep my ball speed up.

Result: 143-140-145=428
Average (15 games): 162
Average for last 9 games: 158
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 490

My team was a little better, if anything, but the same thing happened this time as when we last faced the opposing team…won first two games, but lost the third by enough for total.
