After dropping all 8 this week, “Froot Loops” are now in a tie for 11th with “Red Sox” and “The Oddballs” 26 points behind “Don’t Blink,” who lead “3 Kings and 1 Queen” by 8 points. “Who’s On First” are the scheduled opponents for my team in the coming week.

Keith Tantillo rolls 802 set in Monday Summer Doubles
I alluded to another honor score thrown by Keith Tantillo in my post about his 300 game on Monday, and this is back-dated to July 9. On that night, he had games of 267, 256, and 279 for an 802 series. Congrats again, Keith! 😀
July 18 league night recap
My Week 9 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I had my moments tonight, particularly the five-bagger in the second game, but there were too many bad shots to even things out, as well.
Result: 182-194-169=545
Average (27 games): 186
Average for last 9 games: 184
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 579
My team as a whole was just ordinary, and our opponents had a good night to win all eight points from us.
Sandi Litchfield posts 717 set in Adult/Junior
Congrats to Sandi Litchfield, who had a high game of 246 in a 717 series last Thursday night in the Adult/Junior league. 😀
Keith Tantillo throws perfect game in Monday Summer Doubles
Congrats to Keith Tantillo, who threw a perfect game last night in the summer doubles league. This won’t be the last time I post about him this summer, as I am aware of another honor score that I need the details on before I can post it.
Congrats again, Keith! 😀
July 15 league standings update
Meant to post a standings update before I posted about Ed Alfieri’s 11 in a row game…
“Froot Loops” are tied in points with “RPMM’s” for 8th place after Week 8, 22 points behind the pace set by “Don’t Blink.” “3 Kings and 1 Queen” and “4 Wishers” are tied for second, 12 points back.
“Wild Samoans” will be my team’s opponents on Wednesday night.
Ed Alfieri throws 11 in a row in Wed. Summer Mixed
And another honor score on Wednesday night…congrats to Ed Alfieri on an 11 in a row 290 game! 😀
Chris Johnson rolls 300 game in Monday Summer Doubles
Congrats to Chris Johnson, who threw a perfect game Monday night in the summer doubles league. 😀
July 11 league night recap
My Week 8 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Three fairly consistent games, but you’d never know it after I bowled a good warm-up game to shake two weeks of rust off. There were just too many easy misses in the third game.
Result: 180-194-184=558
Average (24 games): 186
Average for last 9 games: 189
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 563
Berta was bowling distracted, and it showed in her first game, but she recovered to help us take the last two by enough for total and six points on the night.
I expect to be making an announcement tomorrow. 😀
Sandi Litchfield posts 721 set in Adult/Junior
Congrats to Sandi Litchfield, who had a 266 high game in a 721 series thrown this past Thursday night in the Adult/Junior League. 😀
July 1 league standings update
After winning six points from “Beauties N’ Beasts” last week, “Froot Loops” are now in a tie in points for 9th with “C and S” and Team 6. The tie is trailing the leading team, “Don’t Blink,” by 22 points, with “3 Kings and 1 Queen” 8 points behind them.
The league will not meet this week because of the Independence Day holiday, but when the league resumes play on July 11, my team will be bowling against Team 14; the opposing team has a vacancy, as well, so the night will probably go by quick.
June 27 league night recap
My Week 7 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I fell back down to earth a little bit tonight, but I was a bit better on my single 10: I missed two, but, on a night when I was leaving more than my share of them, I made four more of them than I missed.
Result: 183-205-166=554
Average (21 games): 187
Average for last 9 games: 194
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 584
Matt was absent yet again (more on that later), but Brian helped pick up the slack, including punching out in the 10th to end the night, which he told me was the first time he’s ever punched out in the 10th frame. The team took the first two games and total for six points.
When I got home, I saw a message that Matt left me on my Facebook wall indicating that he was quitting the league, so my team will be going the rest of the way with a vacant, by all appearances.
June 23 league standings update
“Froot Loops” remained tied for 8th place after 6 weeks, but it is now a four-way tie in points with “Shake and Bake,” “Eileens Wenches,” and “C and S”. The tie is 22 points behind “Don’t Blink,” who lead “3 Kings and 1 Queen” by six points. Next week’s opponents for “Froot Loops” are “Beauties N’ Beasts”.
June 20 league night recap
My Week 6 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Certainly, I’ve been enjoying this run of consistency that my improved health has allowed me to have, but my 6 was there again tonight, and I missed it largely by not being able to cover my 10 late.
Result: 209-200-181=590
Average (18 games): 187
Average for last 9 games: 200
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 574
Berta was the only teammate of mine present tonight; Matt was absent and Brian had a good pre-bowl, but we lost two fairly close games and total, with the game we won likewise fairly close.
June 17 league standings update
After winning six of eight from “The Pinheads,” “Froot Loops” moved into a tie in points for 8th place with “Shake and Bake” and “RPMM’s,” 16 points behind a tie for first between “Don’t Blink” and “3 Kings and 1 Queen.” My team faces Team 6 on Wednesday night.
Bob Hamilton throws second 300 game of summer
For the second time in three weeks, Bob Hamilton has posted a 300 game in the Wednesday Summer Mixed League, just missing an 800 series when he came up in the 10th needing two strikes for it and tapping an 8 with the first ball. Congrats again, Bob! 😀
June 13 league night recap
My Week 5 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I followed up last week by posting what could have very easily been my first clean series. Three of my four open frames were missed single pins (two 10s and a 4) and the other a split, but when I didn’t strike, I made everything else. This was the first time I posted back-to-back 600 series since December of 2010.
Result: 182-203-217=602
Average (15 games): 185
Average for last 9 games: 194
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 564
Berta and Brian had off nights, but Matt had a solid 504 to help us win the lion’s share of the points.
June 12 league standings update
Our first winning night of the summer allowed “Froot Loops” to move into the middle of the pack, a tie in points for 10th with “Shake and Bake” (our opponents last week), “Who’s On First,” and “Wild Samoans.” The tie for 10th is 16 points behind “Don’t Blink,” who still have only lost two points after four weeks. They hold a two point lead over “3 Kings and 1 Queen,” with “Nightouts” 6 points behind. My team is scheduled to bowl against “Pinheads” tomorrow night.
June 6 league night recap
My Week 4 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
With my mind no longer worrying about my health, I was able to concentrate on just bowling. The result: A clean first game, my best series since the end of December, and my best game since last summer. It was also the best game and series on the pair tonight. 😀
Result: 212-167-233=612
Average (12 games): 181
Average for last 9 games: 188
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 548
Matt was able to support me to take the first game, and it was a team effort in the third, winning total as well for six points on the night.
June 3 league standings update
“Froot Loops” moved into a tie for 15th with “Woobundys” last week, 14 points behind the pace set by “Don’t Blink,” who are two points ahead of “3 Kings and 1 Queen” and “Red Sox.”
As things stand now, my team is scheduled to bowl against “Shake and Bake” this week. That is my buddy Al’s team, and he has been away on previous occasions that his team has been scheduled to cross lanes with mine. I am hoping to do so this time.
May 31 Adult/Junior note
This post doesn’t fit into the “Honor Scores” category, but I did find something in the first week results of the Adult/Junior League that stood out: Shane Litchfield had a 237 high game in a 668 series, which was better than the older boys in the league. WTG Shane…you’ll have your first 7 before too long! 😀
2011-12 season recap
With all of the winter leagues having ended, it’s time to recognize everyone who performed the best this year, whether for one game, one series, or the full season, by listing the high averages, series, and games for both the men and women. As usual, average is based on a minimum of 72 games in the league, and youth bowlers were included with their gender where applicable; series consideration for the Tuesday Scratch Sportsmen and BBIS leagues was based on the first three games.
Men
Average: 232.9; Sean Richard (Westgate Mixed)
Series: 836; Carl Nordstrom (Thur. Hcp. Doubles)
Game: 300; Greg Rand (2; Boston Rhythm & Bowling, Thur. Night Patriots), Jim Donaher (2, Brockton Ten Pin), John Mayo (2, Thur. Night Patriots), Dave Chalifoux (Coke Classic), Danny Khuu (Coke Classic), Mike Fowler (Thur. Night Patriots), Rob Roy (Thur. Night Patriots), Mike Trent (Thur. Night Patriots), Jay Krushas (Thur. Night Patriots), Alex Aguiar (Tue. Scratch Sportsmen), Donie Corneau (Tue. Scratch Sportsmen), John Kunan (Westgate Mixed)
Women
Average: 211.8; Shirley Major (Thur. Hcp. Doubles)
Series: 771; Danielle Barros (Westgate Mixed)
Game: 290; Tina Gannon (Coke Classic)
If I missed mentioning a game or series that was bowled as a substitute, please let me know. As an additional note, Carl Nordstrom’s 836 series was not only the high series in the house this year, but the entire Brockton Bowling Association, as well.
Readers interested in a particular league should check the standings sheets, linked in the list on BowlerExpress. Congrats again to everyone mentioned! 😀
Bob Hamilton, Sean Richard throw perfect games
Two different perfect games to tell you about…
For the first, Bob Hamilton threw a perfect second game tonight in the Wednesday Summer Mixed League, and was actually threatening the house record after a 279 first game, but only threw a 200 third game (this may be corrected later in a comment) and only came away with a 779 series.
The second happened away from Westgate Lanes on Memorial Day, as Sean Richard had one in the Phat Doubles Tournament at AMF Silver Lanes.
Congrats to both Bob and “Seany Kash”! 😀
May 30 league night recap
My Week 3 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I felt I needed control of the pocket tonight, so my Tropical Breeze came out of the bag for the first time since last summer. Unfortunately for the first game, I spent half of that game getting adjusted to the ball again. The ball change eventually paid off, though. Half of my problems with the 10 tonight were my thumb not wanting to come out of the spare ball; that will be something I’ll keep an eye on.
Result: 142-182-213=537
Average (9 games): 174
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 530
We were missing Matt tonight, and we won just the third game, but by enough for total and just barely, as it proved that my make of the 10 to fill the last frame was the difference, as total was won by just that pin.
I’ve told some of the bowlers tonight, but there’s been a development that may affect me for the rest of the summer that I’ll post about when the time comes.
May 29 league standings update
“Froot Loops” settled into 18th (out of a full 20 teams) after taking two points from “RPMM’s”, two points ahead of “The Oddballs” and four ahead of Team 20, our opposition tomorrow night. Team 19 has yet to lose points after two weeks, and they hold a two point lead on “The Avengers” and four ahead of “Red Sox”.
The administrivia for this post is that the link to the standings sheet on LeagueSecretary.com has been added and the winter league links deleted, completing the summer transition. I’ll be archiving the online log (on BowlingTracker.com) for the winter league recently completed momentarily.
2012 Brunswick Mixed video
Alex did something different this year: He uploaded the “highlight” video to YouTube, and I’m going to try to embed it here…
Alex has a great sense of humor, and the opening gag based on Ralphie’s hats was too good to pass up. You’ll even see me crushing the pocket, for a change…I was wearing a gray sweatshirt that night, and you’ll see me turn to the camera at the end.
May 23 league night recap
My Week 2 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Noting that a bowler I knew well was throwing a less-aggressive ball on my pair during open play before league started tonight, I decided to pull out my Fast tonight to see how that ball would do. As it turned out, I had forgotten how much I love that ball, and tonight gave me a small reminder of why. I suffered five splits, including an early 7-9 on a shot that I crushed the pocket on, but I made most of everything else.
Result: 188-178-185=551
Average (6 games): 172
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 524
Berta and Brian joined me and Matt tonight, and we rechristened the team “Froot Loops.” Berta got herself together after a bad first game, but our opponents bowled well enough to take the first two and total for six points.
May 21 league standings update (first of summer 2012)
As it happened, my team is still known by number (18), as another team named themselves “The Pinheads,” and I guess the unwritten rule is the lower number team gets first dibs on the name. Oh well, maybe we’ll come up with something else next week.
As for the standings themselves, I won’t name all of the teams that only won two points this week, but my team landed in the 16th spot (out of 20 teams, possibly including a vacant team). Two teams, numbered 19 and 14, won all eight points in Week 1, and those teams were listed in pinfall order.
“RPMM’s” will be my team’s opponents for Week 2.
Note: The standings sheet on BowlerExpress has been added to the “Author’s links” sidebar category as the summer links transition continues.
Brunswick Mixed 2011-12 champions
And, as usual, here’s the photo of our league champions:

This team started with Nick Gomes, as well, but he had to quit the league mid-season due to his new employment. Congrats guys! 😀
Also, my team’s photo has been added to the “scrapbook.” It shows me in a new item of bowling swag: a Pete Weber “I AM!” t-shirt inspired by his reaction after winning this year’s US Open; if you can’t see the design on the front, you can view it here, with the ability to mouseover the front of the shirt to view the back of the shirt. As I don’t want the “scrapbook” page to get too overloaded with photos, I figure I’ll post one more photo there before I start a second page.
Thank you to Randi Sullivan of “The Mustangs” for letting me post both photos.
2012 Brunswick Mixed banquet
As I probably figured, my team was shut out of the big team prizes, but we were tied for 4th overall in points, so our point money was better than it usually is. Personally, I took the prize for 2nd high handicap series in my division, but, on my team, it was Berta who really made out, as she not only won her division’s high average, but was also most improved for the women. In addition, she received pins as awards from both the Tri-City women’s local association (for a 525 series) and the state women’s association (for a 140-over-average series).
My league is always doing things a little different at the banquet, and the wrinkle this year was that the Coles knew of a start-up bakery in East Bridgewater and had bowling cupcakes made in a few different flavors. I’m hesitant to give a company unrelated to bowling a free plug on my blog, but anyone who wants to inquire about the new bakery can certainly give me a message on my contact form (or find me on Facebook) to ask about them. Also, Alex did another video, with Pat’s reaction to one of his shots getting some laughs.
The photos will again come later because my camera batteries ran out after I took a fairly bad one of my team, but I will have the one a member of “The Mustangs” took in the “scrapbook” eventually, as well as the photo of our champions in a future post.
