Congrats to Kevin Thibeault, who threw his first ever 300 game today in the youth travel league at AMF Holiday Lanes in Somerset. 😀

League recaps
John Kunan throws 297 game in Westgate Mixed
Congrats again to John Kunan, who threw a very quiet 297 game Wednesday night in the Westgate Mixed League (I didn’t know about it until I saw the updated standings sheet, and I was in the building that night.). The second honor score of the season qualifies him for the Bowler of the Year tournament next year. 😀
Dec. 18 league standings update
After taking only one point from “Deadwood,” “Pinfall Wizards” fell to 6th in the standings, 13 points behind “The Mustangs,” who now hold a four point lead over “The Incredibowls.” This week on my team’s schedule: “Bottoms Up!”
Dec. 14 league night recap
My Week 15 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
My line was there pretty much all night, but my execution let me down for most of it. Particularly disappointing was a bad spare game night; I had worked it up to being something of a strength in recent weeks.
Result: 156-179-147=482
Average (45 games): 170
Average for last 9 games: 163
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 514
Berta had a solid night, but that was pretty much it. The point we did win is in question because it was close enough for a scoring error last week for this week’s opponents to have a say in the outcome when the error is corrected and averages adjusted.
Fall 2011 Week 13 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” executed a much-needed sweep of Team 13 in the fall virtual league’s penultimate week, doing so despite “Rocket Jr” of the latter team putting up a 290 third game, which was a good enough 11 in a row score for recognition on the league’s “Honor Roll” page.
A quirk in the standings has my virtual team involved in an immediate rematch against Team 13 in this week’s positon round. The worst we can do is finish in a tie for our current position, 12th, and we can conceivably move up to 8th. Three teams, Team 12, “Bipolar Rollers,” and Team 4 can still conceivably win the league’s championship, with Team 12 having the advantage in points.
Dec. 11 league standings update
After winning all four points against “Warren’s Girls,” “Pinfall Wizards” move up to 5th place, 11 points behind “The Mustangs,” who hold a two point lead against “The Incredibowls.” “Deadwood” provides my team’s opposition this week.
Dec. 7 league night recap
My Week 14 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
After a couple of weeks under the mark, I finally got back over 500 on a night. It was far from an artistic success, with only one double, but I got better as the night went on. I was slightly worse on my spares tonight, with four missed “makeables,” including a couple of single pins, but I was still near 80% on those, so my spare game improvement continues to be a bright spot on this season.
Result: 143-172-192=507
Average (42 games): 171
Average for last 9 games: 159
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 528
Tonight was a watershed night for Carl. In his fifth season of bowling, he finally threw his first 200 game with a 204 in the second game. As for the rest of the team, Pat was solid, and Brian also had 2 games over his average. The result was the team taking all of the points.
Fall 2011 Week 12 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” lost the lion’s share to “Legends,” taking only the second game, and allowed the latter team to creep closer to getting out of the cellar, as we’re now only 7 points ahead of them in 12th and 5 points ahead of “Silicon Stewart” with two weeks left. There is currently a tie at the top between Team 12 and Team 4, with “Bipolar Rollers” two points behind and “Wrecking Balls” four points behind.
Dec. 4 league standings update
After taking one point from “The 5 G’s,” “Pinfall Wizards” are now tied for 6th with that team and “Dee’s Boys II,” 14 points behind “The Mustangs,” who widened their lead over “Outta Da Guttah” to 4.5 points. My team bowls against “Warren’s Girls” this week.
Nov. 30 league night recap
My Week 13 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Tonight was less of a case of the ball being bad and more one of “operator error.” I just couldn’t put two good shots together, and, when I finally did, a blower 7 greeted me. I am happy with my performance on “makeable” spares, and particularly single pins, but that latter category should have really been perfect, as I just went right of a 3 pin.
Result: 153-157-170=480
Average (39 games): 171
Average for last 9 games: 170
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 519
Team only took one point out of a match in which every game was decided by less than 30 pins. For my teammates, Berta was good again, and Brian was a pin shy of a 107 triplicate.
Fall 2011 Week 11 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” won just the third game from “Silicon Stewart,” and now stand in a tie for 11th place with “Salty Dogs,” 23 points behind the pace set by Team 4, who lead both Team 12 and “Bipolar Rollers” by three points with three weeks left in the season.
Nov. 27 league standings update
After taking one point from “Bowling Stones,” “Pinfall Wizards” stand in 6th place, 11 points off of the pace set by “The Mustangs.” The latter team, however, has lost most of their lead, and now stand just a half point ahead of “Outta Da Guttah,” with “The Incredibowls” just three points back in third place.
“The 5 G’s” (with Nick Gomes rejoining after the girlfriend of one of the bowlers on that team lost interest and quit) bowl against my team this week.
Nov. 23 league night recap
My Week 12 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
My comment on BowlSK:
Chalk up tonight to stubbornly staying with a ball that seemed to lose its reaction and needed maintenance until it was too late to save the night, as my weaker Fast was better than the Hy-Road. The bright side was going 4/5 on my single 10 pin.
Result: 119-145-184=448
Average (36 games): 172
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 522
Brian has a personal goal of having a better score than his wife at the end of a night, and he almost pulled it off tonight with a tie at a 396 series score (in which he had a 178 first game, which may have been his personal best). Carl and Pat were both well over average in the third game to help me secure the third game point, our only one of the night.
Dave Chalifoux posts perfect game in Coke league
Congratulations to Dave Chalifoux on a 300 game tonight (technically yesterday, as I’m posting after midnight) in the Coke Classic League. 😀
Fall 2011 Week 10 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” won just the third game from “Rocket 5,” but by enough pins to also take the point for series total. The three points of the week put my team in a tie for 11th place with “Salty Dogs,” 20 points off of the pace set by Team 4, who lead “Bipolar Rollers” by three points.
Nov. 21 league standings update
First, with the team, the three points we won from “Dee’s Boys II” enabled us to climb back up to a tie for 5th with “Bottoms Up”, 12 points behind the pace set by “The Mustangs,” who are still 3.5 points ahead of “Outta Da Guttah.”
As far as the “Turkey Shoot” went, I won my division’s prize, as the bowlers in my division ahead of my scratch total typically needed 700s to match my +92 (Ed Godino III had the high series with a 687, but had a 204 average going in), and Berta won hers, having the high scratch series in her division with one of the lower averages in the division.
“Bowling Stones” is the next opponent on my team’s schedule.
Greg Rand shoots 300 game in Boston Rhythm & Bowling
I check the Boston Rhythm & Bowling league standings infrequently, admittedly, and, because of that and the fact that weekly high scores aren’t listed on their standings sheet online, I don’t have an exact date for this one: Congrats to Greg Rand on a recent 300 game in that league. 😀
John Kunan throws perfect game in Westgate Mixed
He seems to have at least one every season, and he made sure this season wasn’t any different tonight, so congrats to John Kunan on a 300 game tonight in the Westgate Mixed League. 😀
Nov. 16 league night recap
My Week 11 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I think the things that I learned in my previous lesson are starting to sink in, because this night was more like it. I had just one “easy” miss and converted something that I converted for the very first time, a 2-4-8-10. Everything came together in the third game, which was, I believe, my best of the season to this point.
Result: 190-191-227=608
Average (33 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 171
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 559
Tonight was the league’s annual “Turkey Shoot,” in which a prize goes to the bowler in each average division with the most pins over average on the night. I believe I’m at least close (+92), and, as for the rest of the team, Berta could be in contention for her division’s prize. The team overall took the lion’s share (three out of four).
Tina Gannon rolls 279 game in Coke Classic League
I think I overlooked this last week when I checked the Coke Classic standings, but Tina Gannon recently had a 279 game in the Coke Classic League. Congrats! 😀
Danny Khuu throws 300 game in Coke Classic League
Congrats to Danny Khuu, who had the first 300 game of the season in the Coke Classic League last night en route to a 739 series. 😀
Jay Krushas rolls to perfection in Patriots league
Congrats to Jay Krushas, whose 300 game last Thursday in the Patriots league was the highlight of a 668 series. 😀
Fall 2011 Week 9 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” took two points from Team 4 in spite a very poor week by my team (with only one game over 700 scratch). My virtual team now stands in 12th place, 18 points behind a three-way tie at the top between Team 12, “Bipolar Rollers,” and Team 4.
Nov. 13 league standings update
After taking one point from “Outta Da Guttah,” “Pinfall Wizards” slipped into a tie for 7th (in points) with “Yes – We Have A Girl” 12 points behind “The Mustangs,” who lead the former team by 3.5 points. “Dee’s Boys II” provide this week’s opposition for my team.
Kevin Thibeault throws first 800 series in Saturday youth league
Just saw Sandi Litchfield post this on Facebook…
Congratulations to Kevin Thibeault, who had games of 268, 268, and 277 for an 813 series, his first (of, we hope, many) 800 series, in the Senior division of the Saturday youth league. 😀
Nov. 9 league night recap
My Week 10 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
This was a night in which little came easy. There were a lot of splits and tougher makeables, but I also missed some easier ones later in the night, particularly a couple of 7 pins in Game 3, a game in which I also could not seem to buy a strike. On the bright side, I was perfect on my 10…I just wish I had more of those to shoot at.
Result: 178-154-136=468
Average (30 games): 172
Average for last 9 games: 170
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 540
Pat, with all three games over average, was the bright spot for the team on a night in which we only took the point for the first game.
Fall 2011 Week 8 virtual league results
“JaMMeRs” lost all seven points to “Salty Dogs” and fell to 12th place in the standings, 20 points behind Team 12, who hold a 5 point lead on Team 4.
Team 8, consisting of “fredboost,” “RichL,” “vgnano420,” and “Vic44,” broke the only records remaining from the inaugural virtual league last week, with a four-man high game of 968 and a series of 2,612. Congrats guys! 😀
Rai Doblmeier throws 11 in a row game in Sportsmen league
Congrats to Rai Doblmeier, who threw a 295 first game Tuesday night in the Sportsmen league, which is good for an 11 in a row honor. The league is currently bowling on the “Dead Man’s Curve” pattern. 😀
Nov. 6 league standings update
“Pinfall Wizards” stand in a tie in points for 5th with “Bottoms Up!” after winning a single point from “The Incredibowls” last week. The deficit to the lead, held by “The Mustangs,” at that position is 11 points. “Outta Da Guttah,” who will be my team’s opponents this week, is the second place team, 4.5 points back.
Individually, I should note that Shawn Coles finished a game with 10 in a row for a 280, which was the high game of the week. Also, I was told by Ken Snow that his 210 first game against my team was his first sanctioned 200 game. Congrats to both Shawn and Ken. 😀
Carl Nordstrom posts first 800 series of 2011-12 in Thursday Handicap Doubles
This is about as breaking as you’ll ever see news on my blog, as I found out about this just tonight from Adam Johndrow, who was working tonight…
Congrats to Carl Nordstrom on having the first 800 series of the season at Westgate Lanes, as he went 289-258-289 for an 836 set tonight in the Thursday Handicap Doubles League. Good job, Carl! 😀
