Congrats to AJ “Big Country” Voisine, who had a 300 today in the team event at the Mass. open state tournament in Auburn. Chuck Paige provided the video below:

Joe Fletcher wins Bay State Open Mulligan Singles at Westgate
As reported by the Bay State Open in the above Facebook post, Joe Fletcher defeated Ken Camille Jr., 300-202 (with handicap) to win the Mulligan Singles event on Apr. 13 at Westgate Lanes. The format allowed one “mulligan” per game on a first ball, including fill shots at full racks in the 10th frame. Note: 300 games where mulligans were used were ineligible for USBC certification.
You may watch the final match below:
Jon Hester rolls 300 in singles at Mass. open state tournament
Brian Egan was not the only Westgate bowler with a notable score today at states, as Jon Hester had a 300 in his singles event. Seany also had this video:
Nice game Hoss! 🙂
Brian Egan posts 300/811 in doubles at Mass. open state tournament
The state tournaments usually don’t start until after Easter, but Easter Sunday at the open state tournament in Auburn proved kind to Brian Egan, who went 300-253-258 for an 811 in the doubles event. He was bowling with Sean Richard, who recorded this video:
Nice bowling, Brian! 🙂
Jim Ferguson fires 300 in Patriots league
Shout-out to Jim Ferguson, who had a 300 game last night and which is his 4th such game since February. Sean Richard provided the video below:
WTG! 🙂
Bob Hamilton fires 300 in Westgate Mixed
Bobby Geddes wasn’t the only one with a variant of his first name who had a 300 at Westgate last night, as Hall of Famer Bob Hamilton had one in the Westgate Mixed league. Bob’s daughter, Stephanie Bourhill, usually gets his videos, and this one is below:
Nice bowling Bob! 🙂
Ralph Dahlgren shoots 300 in Patriots league
Congrats to Ralph Dahlgren, who had the 277 in Strike F/X’s 857 game last week, for a 300 last night. Sean Richard’s video is below:
Danny Khuu, Aaron Major lead high scoring Day 2 of BPUSBC Championships
Scoring was more evident today on Day 2 of city tournament, particularly on the first squad (mostly doubles), which found Danny Khuu going 250-278-280 for an 808, and Aaron Major posting 279-245-279 for an 803.
The squad also featured no less than three 300 games, bowled by Jon Hester, Jim Ferguson, and, last but not least, the first 300 game for Shane Litchfield (now an adult bowler). I have videos available, starting with Zach Thompson’s of Hester:
The others are courtesy of Sandi Litchfield, first of recent NEBA champion Jim Ferguson:
And sharing the proud mom’s video of son Shane:
Congrats to all! 🙂
UPDATE: Danny Khuu’s doubles partner today was Sean Richard, and they together posted a 1,550 series, right at the USBC reporting threshold. WTG guys! 🙂
Jim Ferguson wins 123Bowl.com Open for 2nd NEBA title
As posted above by NEBA, Westgate’s Jim Ferguson won his 2nd title by defeating Gary Haines 60-49 in a 9th & 10th frame roll-off to capture the 123Bowl.com Open yesterday at East Providence Lanes.
In the final match, Jim was in some trouble after missing a 10 pin, followed in the next frame by a split, but momentum swung back his way after Haines left a 6-8-10 (lefty), and the door was left open for Jim to tie the match after a screaming messenger by Haines missed the 7, after which Jim punched out in the 10th to force the roll-off. Counting the roll-off, Jim threw the last nine strikes of the match.
Plenty of video here, starting with the final match:
Jim’s winner’s interview:
As a bonus, I’ll include the semifinals, as Jim had to defeat best friend and doubles partner Sean Richard:
Congrats again Jimmy! 🙂
Khuu 300/820, Robinson, Major 300s lead Patriots scoring barrage
There were fireworks aplenty last night in the Patriots league. It was Danny Khuu leading the way, going 230-290-300 for an 820 set, but there were a couple of other 300s, one off the left hand of association Hall of Famer Dan Robinson, which we have this video of from Sandi Litchfield:
The other was by Hall of Famer Bill Major’s son, Alex, and we have this video from Chris Silva:
Nice bowling all around! 🙂
Chuck Paige wins Bay State Open Over/Under doubles in Auburn
Per the post above, Chuck Paige teamed with Jayme Silva to win the Bay State Open’s first Over/Under (45) doubles title Sunday at AMF Auburn Lanes. The pair defeated Leo Roy & Louis Bacci, 470-453 (with handicap), in the final match, which may be viewed below:
Congrats guys! 🙂
Alex Aguiar takes home NEBA Tournament of Champions title
As noted in the Facebook post above, Alex Aguiar claimed his 4th NEBA title of 2018 and 23rd overall by defeating Steve Dale Jr. 434-316 in a two-game match to win the Brunswick Tournament of Champions at Callahan’s Bowl-O-Rama in Newington, CT.
For those who may have missed the live streams, I’ll include the videos of the final match and NEBA’s interview with Alex below:
Congrats Alex! 🙂
Trey Coy fires 300 in TNBA league
Kris Higgins alerted me that Trey Coy, a former member of the BBIS league, shot a 300 game in the TNBA league last night. Kris provided the video below, as well.
Congrats Trey! 🙂
Gary Warner scores first 300 in Westgate Mixed
Congrats to Gary Warner, a bowler I knew from softball before I knew he was a bowler, for his first 300 game last night in the Westgate Mixed league. His father-in-law, Bill Condon, got the video I present below:
Fine bowling! 🙂
Westgate Warriors roll over Mill City; Egan shoots 300, Gaskill 300/814
It was a different time of year and opponent, but the Westgate Warriors again successfully defended their home center with a 26-14 net victory over Mill City Mayhem Sunday. Standouts for the Warriors were Brian Egan (760 in Scratch), Jon Hester (718 in Handicap 1), Jake Tobin (700 in Handicap 2), and Sean Richard (736 in Handicap 2). Egan had a 300 in the second game, and here’s the last shot (courtesy of Zach Thompson):
Not to be outdone, Brian Gaskill, bowling in Mop Nation’s match, went 300-247-267 for an 814 set.
Good bowling to all! 🙂
Sean Richard bowls 100th 300 game in TNBA league
It was always going to be a matter of where and when, not if, Sean Richard would bowl his 100th perfect game, and he made those of us at Westgate glad that it came at not only his home house, but also on the most famous pair of lanes in the house, 47 & 48, or “Hakim’s pair”, last night in the TNBA league. There is a video account of the last shot, as well, provided by Grant Henderson III, and is below:
Congrats $eany! 🙂
Shawn Hagan posts 300/811 in Malden
As the post above shows, Pepsi leaguer Shawn Hagan posted 300-236-275 for an 811 last night in the Trios + 1 league in Malden. A couple of videos were available, but I picked Zach Thompson’s:
Good bowling! 🙂
Paris Cook shoots 300, Keith Tantillo 299 in Monday doubles
Lanes 39 & 40 were the “hot” pair last night, as Keith Tantillo started the night with a 299, but it was Paris Cook finishing it with his 10th 300 game. Sean Richard provided the video of Paris below:
Nice bowling! 🙂
Stan Lewis rolls 300/804, Danny Khuu, Joe Bourhill 300 in Monday doubles
It can definitely be said that the Monday Summer Doubles league is the summer season’s version of the Patriots league because of the quantity of high scores, and this summer’s league didn’t disappoint on its first night. I’ll start by noting Joe Bourhill’s 300 game, which was the first one in Massachusetts for this New York transplant. Joe’s wife Stephanie (Hamilton) got the video below:
The third game saw two more 300s, by Danny Khuu and Stan Lewis, with the latter having added that to games of 257 and 247 for an 804 set. Sean Richard got both of these videos, staring with Stan’s:
And now Danny’s:
Nice bowling, guys! 🙂
Bill Briggs shoots 2nd 300 of season in Pepsi league
Two 300 games by the same bowler in a Pepsi league season is a feat, and accomplished by Bill Briggs last night. The game followed up one in the last league week (with no bowling last week because of the Memorial Day holiday) by his Eklund Electric teammate, Tim Riordan, making it three of the seven this season bowled by that team.
I had my camera out for this one because I’d forgotten I got Bill’s other one, and he noticed that fact, telling me at the end of the night that that made him nervous. I’m posting it anyway, as he made a great shot to finish it.
Congrats again Bill! 🙂
Tim Riordan fires 300 in Pepsi league
Tim Riordan only bowls the Pepsi league, but he’s made the most of it, as, last night, he posted a 300 game, which is now the third one of his that I’ve written about. WTG! 🙂
UPDATE: Zach Thompson has made the video below available.
Jon Wilbur wins 3rd NEBA title at Westgate
As noted in the above post, Jon Wilbur took home his 3rd NEBA title by winning the Harry’s Pub & Grill Open at Westgate Lanes, defeating Tyler Perry by a score of 208-166 in the final match. The lane condition, Kegel Winding Road, proved difficult, as I have no high scores to report from this event.
Westgate bowlers inside the cut were Steve Dale Jr., who lost to Tyler Perry in the semifinals, Shawn Hagan, and Brian Egan.
Below will be the video of the final match (not sure where they picked up match play, but earlier rounds are shown), as well as the interview of Jon Wilbur.
Jim Simon, Mike Botelho shoot 300 in Westgate Mixed
Meanwhile, the Westgate Mixed league had a couple of 300s on their position night, led off by Jim Simon’s (Sean Richard’s video is below):
That 300 was followed in the second game by one by Mike Botelho, with video below:
This was Mike’s first 300 at Westgate, but he told me he’d previously bowled 300s in Taunton and Somerset.
WTG guys! 🙂
Mark Zimmerman shoots 300 in Patriots league
The Patriots league, except for the playoffs, couldn’t end without one more honor score, and it was Mark Zimmerman who provided it, with a 300 game. I got my own video, which is below (my apologies for the quality, or lack thereof):
Nice bowling! 🙂
Jim Ferguson rolls 300 in state tournament in Chicopee
He’s done it enough for me to expect it now: Jim Ferguson had a 300 game in doubles today at the open state tournament at AMF Chicopee Lanes, which makes it his third in that tournament that I can remember. Sean Richard got the video this time:
Nice bowling! 🙂
“Mr. 900” slams 300/815 for first 800 series
It was known at the time of his 900 series that Hakim Emmanuel never had an 800 series. But, tonight, in the TNBA Mixed league, he bowled his first 800 series by going 278-237-300 for an 815. There have been many coincidences surrounding Hakim, and his first 800 series came on lanes 47 & 48, the 900 pair, which this video of Hakim’s last two strikes recorded by Kris Higgins confirms:
Congrats Hakim! 🙂
Jim Ferguson 299/835, Bill Major 300/824 lead wild Patriots league scoring night
Last night was such a crazy scoring night in the Patriots league that I felt the best way to present the scores would be in list form:
- Hall of Famer Jim Ferguson had the best night of all, going 299-279-257 for a personal high 835 set.
- Hall of Famer Bill Major posted 266-258-300 for an 824 series.
- No honor game for “TomTom” Hedding, but he threw 269-277-268 for an 814 series.
- Finally, “Mr. 900” Hakim Emmanuel put up a 300 game first game, as did Ralph Dahlgren. Hakim’s was on 25 & 26, meaning he now has a 300 game in the original building (up to lane 32).
Nice bowling all around guys! 🙂
UPDATE: Sandi Litchfield got this video of Ralph’s last shot:
Rene Thompson posts 300 in Rhythm & Bowling
He waited 20 years for it, but Rene Thompson can now claim multiple 300 games after bowling his second one last night in the Rhythm & Bowling league. Rene posted his video on Facebook, which I share below:
Good shooting Rene! 🙂
Peter Cappola shoots 300, Kevin Thibeault 298, Rob Young 279 in 2018 Brockton city tournament
There were a couple of honor games today on Day 1 of the Brockton city tournament, Kevin Thibeault’s 298 in doubles, and Peter Cappola’ 300 game in singles, the video of which I present below:
Good bowling, guys! 🙂
Update: Rob Young told me that, in singles, he had the back 11 after leaving the 8-10 for a 279. Good recovery! 🙂
Dave Kullas bowls 300/801 in Hyannis
Dave Kullas is certainly making the most of the last days in Hyannis as, fresh off an 855 last week, he put up 232-300-269 for an 801 last night in the Dave Smith Memorial Classic. Alexander Rebelle posted this video of Dave’s 300 game, which was shareable on Facebook:
Great bowling! 🙂
