Eldon Dunbar rolls 300 in junior travel league at Westgate
I was alerted by Rose Hamilton to a 300 game bowled by Eldon Dunbar out of Auburn in the travel league at Westgate Sunday. WTG! 🙂

Although they haven’t been marked as such on the Mass. youth association website, results from the state tournament at Westgate Lanes are presumably official in the PDF linked here. As usual, I will note Westgate’s state champions below:

Chris Zalewski bowls 300 in youth state tournament at Westgate
Chris Zalewski had the high game of the season on Saturday morning this season (289), but picked the doubles event of the youth state tournament today at Westgate to bowl his first 300 game. Ken Gerraughty provided me with a copy of the video, which I uploaded to the (new) association page and appears below:

Aiden Delehoy wins Mass. Pepsi title
Per their official results (PDF format), the Mass. USBC Youth Association reported Aiden Delehoy of Westgate Lanes as the U10 boys champion at the state Pepsi tournament, held last Sunday at Brunswick Zone Lowell. A source in the youth association also told me that since the three U20 boys listed were already qualified for Junior Gold, the Junior Gold spot out of the tournament in the division fell to Westgate Lanes’ Jonathan Gerraughty.

Shane Litchfield wins season-end travel league tournament
The junior travel league season ends with a singles eliminator tournament, and Sandi Litchfield reported on her Facebook that her son Shane won it today at Wonder Bowl with games of 298, 258, and 241 for a 792 series (with the 298 counting as an honor score for blog purposes). Nice job! 🙂
Westgate team wins Southeastern Mass. junior travel league
As noted on the final standing sheet, the Westgate team of Ethan Reyes, Kyle Major, and Shane Litchfield (with a vacant) has won the Southeastern Mass. Junior Scratch Travel League. It is the fourth consecutive year that a team out of Westgate Lanes won the league championship.

Mar. 5 postponement note
I forgot to post last night that, due to Westgate Lanes not having power after a late-week nor’easter, leagues, including Sunday Niters and the junior travel league, had to postpone, as well as the Brockton USBC YA honor squad tournament. My league should pick up where we left off, and other weekend activities (honor squad, travel league) are rescheduled for this coming weekend.

2018 Mass. state tournament information
My annual post with the Mass. state tournament information:
- The open state tournament will be at AMF Chicopee Lanes Apr. 21-May 6 (weekends), with an entry blank available here (PDF format). Mail-in entries close Apr. 1.
- The women’s tournament will be at Town Line Luxury Lanes in Malden May 5-20 (weekends). Entry blanks are available in the bowling centers. Entries close Apr. 1.
- Westgate Lanes will host the youth tournament Apr. 28-May 6 (weekends). Entries are typically coordinated through the local youth associations.
Noah Rushing bowls 298 in travel league at Westgate
According to the latest posted standings, North Bowl youth bowler Noah Rushing bowled what I believe to be his first honor game, a 298, last Sunday in the Southeastern Mass. Junior Scratch Travel League at Westgate Lanes. Nice bowling! 🙂

Westgate youth team wins All-Star Classic in Somerset
Per the Facebook post above, a Westgate Lanes youth team with Ethan Reyes, Jonathan Gerraughty, Corey Major, Nick Damon, and Kyle Major (youth are L-R in above photo) won the annual All-Star Classic yesterday at AMF Somerset Lanes. They were coached by Steve & Rose Hamilton, along with Ken Gerraughty (adults L-R). Congrats all around! 🙂
Corey Major posts 758 in Saturday Juniors
I haven’t had reason to post about the youth leagues yet this season, but 13 year old Corey Major gave me one today, because he put up 256-246-256 for a 758 set in the junior division. Nice job! 🙂
Aaron Major wins JBSC at Auburn Lanes
As posted in their Facebook group, Westgate’s Aaron Major, on his Christmas break from Wichita St., won the U20 boys division of the Junior Bowling Sport Challenge yesterday at AMF Auburn Lanes, having defeated Xavier Bamford in the final match (score not available). Congrats Aaron! 🙂
Update: As posted by Tom Hankey Jr. in the JBSC group, the lane condition was the 2016 Junior Gold Woodland Bowl 36′ pattern.
Ethan Reyes fires 290 in junior travel league at Westport
This will be my first time mentioning this bowler for a league score: Congrats to Ethan Reyes, who posted a 290 game Sunday in the junior travel league at Holiday Lanes in Westport. 🙂

They weren’t honor scores, but a couple of games I’ll mention were a 289 by Mike Litchfield and a 274 by Jerome Betsey, who had the high series for the junior bowlers with a 736.

Ethan Paquette bowls 299 in junior travel league at Westgate
I promised more coverage of the junior travel league this season, and I can report this week that Auburn bowler Ethan Paquette had a 299 game in the league last Sunday at Westgate Lanes. Nice bowling! 🙂
AMF Auburn Lanes joins junior travel league
Maybe Rose Hamilton can fill me in on whether they’ve been in the league before, but I noticed in the first standings for the season that AMF Auburn Lanes has joined the Southeastern Mass. Junior Scratch Travel League with a couple of teams out of there. Good luck to them.
Stephen Major shoots 300/854 for Brockton youth record
Stephen Major’s youth days may be coming to an end, but he’s at least going out with a bang, as, tonight, in the Adult/Junior league, he posted 289-300-265 for an 854 set, which is believed to be a new Brockton youth association record. It was also memorable for him because he’d never had an 800 series until tonight.

Aaron Major among leaders after Junior Gold qualifying
Qualifying for the 2017 Junior Gold Championships has wrapped up, and, according to the posted standings after 16 games, Westgate bowler Aaron Major sits in 9th place in the U20 boys division with a +88 score (205.50 average). The first advancers round takes place later this morning.

The Mass. USBC Youth Association has posted final results of this year’s state tournament (PDF linked). While Westgate had no state champions this year, Cody Litchfield was recognized in the above file for having the high series in the 161-180 average division with a 715.
