Congrats to Joe Lundin on his first of what we (always) hope will be many perfect 300 games tonight in the Adult/Junior league! 😀

Kevin Thibeault makes first cut at 2013 Junior Gold
The USBC reported Kevin Thibeault as having made the first cut (after 15 games) at the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships this week in Detroit, the first bowler from Westgate Lanes to do so since Danny Khuu in 2008. Kevin finished 143rd after the first advancers round today, and, given more than 1,000 entries in the under-20 boys division and the fact that three WTBA lane patterns (London, Seoul, and Sydney) were used in three different bowling centers during qualifying, is quite an accomplishment.
Congrats Kev! 😀
Note about 2013 Youth Open pattern
I’ve noted a number of “hits” from search engines, both this year and in the past, searching on terms similar to “Youth Open oil pattern”, and I believe I get these because I post the pattern (two this year) for the USBC Open Championships, which, of course, is a tournament for adults. In years past, I’ve never found the pattern for the Youth Open, but, for those who find this blog on those search terms, I did find it this year, and I’ll link it here. I hope this also proves useful.
Aaron Major goes 298/815 in Adult/Junior
Congratulations to Aaron Major on games of 290, 227, and 298 for an 815 series tonight in the Adult/Junior league. I believe these are Aaron’s first honor scores, with the two 11 in a row games as well as the 800 set. 😀

The Massachusetts USBC Youth Association has released the final results of this year’s state tournament, which were held at Ken’s Bowl in Pittsfield and can be viewed by following this link. Congrats to Westgate Lanes’ Nick Sauve, who is the state champion in 181+ scratch singles, and had the high game (289) and series (755) in that average classification. 😀

Allen Halacy throws perfect game in junior travel league

Correction to Mass. state youth tournament note
I probably could have posted this with my blog host’s mobile app, but I wasn’t completely comfortable with it, so I decided to wait until my power and Internet connection were restored after Nemo.
Rosemarie Hamilton has informed me that they’ve changed the venue of the state youth tournament to Ken’s Bowl in Pittsfield. Since she didn’t tell me, I’ll have to assume that they’re the same dates. I’m also still trying to find out when the Westgate Lanes contingent will be bowling.
2013 state tournament notes
I’ve already noted the women’s state tournament, which will take place at AMF Holiday Lanes in Somerset, but I now have information on the other state tournaments:
- The Massachusetts open state tournament will take place at Town Line Luxury Lanes in Malden on weekends between Apr. 27 and May 19. Mail-in entries will close on Apr. 13, but walk-in entries will be accepted on the basis of lane availability. Look for entry forms at the desk soon.
- The state youth tournament will be held at Mt. Greylock Bowl in North Adams from Apr. 27 to May 13. I’ll comment on when the Westgate Lanes youth bowlers will bowl when it is known to me.
Nick Sauve throws first 300 game in youth league
Congrats to Nick Sauve, who bettered his season-high game in the senior youth league with his first 300 game last week. As an aside, Ray told me he threw the perfecto in the first game with a brand new Tropical Breeze, which makes me happy as an unofficial member of “Storm Nation.” 😀
Nick Sauve throws 11 in a row 298 in youth league
Congrats to Nick Sauve, who threw his first honor score last Saturday with an 11 in a row 298 game in the senior league of the youth program. 😀
Nov. 2012 Adult/Junior results
Congratulations to Stephen Major and Ray Fischer, who won the Senior division with a handicap total of 1,427, and Ethan Reyes and Mike Fowler, winners of the Prep/Junior division with a 1,398 total, in today’s Adult/Junior doubles tournament.
June 2 outing with brother
Just a quick note about today’s outing with my brother: It was a morning visit to the lanes, and my left foot is often balky in the morning, but maybe more so today because of the rain. That said, I was still in the 160s and 170s for all three games despite my footwork suffering. I switched back to my Tropical Breeze after starting with the Fast, so if I bowl next week (and that is in doubt…I’ll “cross that bridge” next week if I have to), the Tropical Breeze will probably be the only ball out of the bag other than my spare ball.
Note: I’ve noticed some viewers finding this blog on a search for the oil pattern for the USBC Youth Open. Those people should probably check Bowl.com by clicking “Tournaments” in the menu, then the “Youth Open” link; if the pattern for this tournament is published, it will probably be there.
May 31 Adult/Junior note
This post doesn’t fit into the “Honor Scores” category, but I did find something in the first week results of the Adult/Junior League that stood out: Shane Litchfield had a 237 high game in a 668 series, which was better than the older boys in the league. WTG Shane…you’ll have your first 7 before too long! 😀

Westgate Lanes team wins 2012 junior travel league championship
Congratulations to Westgate Lanes 1, consisting of Adam Johndrow, Chris Silveri, Mike Trent Jr., and Kevin Thibeault, on winning the championship of this season’s Southeastern Mass. Junior Travel League today. While I don’t have scores (the league uses a form of the Peterson scoring system), I can tell everyone that they bowled against Wonder Bowl 1 in the position round today at AMF Taunton Lanes.
Congrats again! 😀
