Ralph Dahlgren rolls 300 in Westport

Ralph Dahlgren has subbed at least once this year in the Patriots league, so, technically, he’s still a Westgate bowler, but, last night in one of his regular leagues, the Westport Trios at Holiday Lanes, he had a 300 game, the scoresheet of which was captured by Sean Richard in the photo above. Nice bowling! 🙂
Stephen & Aaron Major win Turkey Doubles in Ft. Edward, NY
Per the post above by the bowling center, cousins Stephen & Aaron Major, the 2016 USBC Youth Open doubles champions, won their first adult doubles tournament by taking the inaugural Turkey Doubles last night at Broadway Bowl in Ft. Edward, NY. The Majors defeated Steve Wagoner & Craig Taylor 247-237 in the Baker-format final match, in which Stephen delivered the clinching double in the 10th frame.

Aaron Major shoots 300/778, Manny Silva 279 in His & Hers
Per the recap on LeagueSecretary.com, Aaron Major connected for a 300 for the second week in a row en route to a 778 set.
Also, by suggestion, I’m relaxing the thresholds for reporting scores, and this allows me to recognize Manny Silva, with a 279 game (his recap is on the page previous to the one I linked for Aaron).

Jayme Silva tosses 300 in Patriots league
Last night, Jayme Silva Sr., a veteran SEMASS bowler, recorded his first 300 game in a Westgate league, the Patriots league (not surprisingly). Jennifer Mydlack sent me the video below of the last shots:

As an aside, Alex Major proposed to his girlfriend and teammate, Samantha Gustin, as she was finishing up for the night (her team had her bowl anchor last night to set it up). It was the first time, including my former bowling stint, that I’d been witness to a marriage proposal at Westgate. Congrats to the couple.

Aaron Major fires 300/827 in His & Hers

Sean Richard sent me the photo above, which shows that Aaron Major went 300-279-248 for an 827 set last night in the His & Hers league. Aaron previously had an 814 in the league and an 813 in Raynham, but this was his first 300 of the season, the final shot of which Sean Richard also got this recording of.

Sean Richard wins record 6th Bay State Open title
As announced in the above post, Sean Richard won a record 6th Bay State Open title Saturday in the “Throw the Low” (bowl four games, drop low score of the four) event at Walnut Hill Bowl in Woonsocket, RI, winning the final match 261-202 (with handicap) over Bill Josephson. Sean posted on Facebook that he was actually an alternate for match play, and got in when bowlers left thinking they’d missed the cut. It just goes to show you that it pays to stick around a tournament until cuts are announced.

“Mr. 900” perfect in TNBA regional in Virginia
As the photo shows, Hakim Emmanuel had a slow start, but finished with a 300 game in the team event of the TNBA East regional tournament, taking place at AMF Norfolk Lanes in Virginia. It is Hakim’s first perfect game away from Westgate Lanes.

Aaron Major slams 813 in Raynham
Aaron Major messaged me last night that he had put up 256-279-278 for an 813 in the Thursday Night Mixed league at Ryan’s Amusements in Raynham, which should be his first score in a center away from Westgate that is still in the Bristol-Plymouth association. I was also able to confirm it on LeagueSecretary.com. Congrats! 🙂

I shared the unofficial results of the Rhode Island USBC city tournament on Facebook Monday, but overlooked that Sean Richard had a 299 in the singles event, which apparently was bowled Saturday. Good work! 🙂

Last night in the Patriots league saw Keith Kaestner strike 12 times in the third game and Mike “Sensae” Reed get close to one with a 297 game. For Keith, it had been two years between perfect games.

Per a report he gave me on Facebook, Kevin Kelliher, who bowls in the Pepsi and Patriots leagues at Westgate Lanes, bowled his first perfect game in tonight’s NEBA qualifying squad at AMF Auburn Lanes. Great bowling! 🙂

Sean Richard relayed me a report from Brian Gaskill last night that Brian Egan had 300 in the first game and the front six in the second in Malden, but the follow-up soon after reported that a 10 pin stopped his run. Great game, anyway! 🙂

Moe Wideman completes Silver level coaching certification
Per the post above, Moe Wideman, president of the Boston Rhythm & Bowling league, has completed his USBC Silver level coaching certification, doing so through USBC Gold coach Ron Hatfield. Moe has primarily been working with the TNBA Boston Senate youth program at Boston Bowl.
Congrats Moe, and best wishes in whatever you do with your new certification.
