And there were a couple of scores from last Wednesday night in the Westgate Mixed league, both coming in the form of 11 in a row: Jim Simon’s 298 and Greg Andrews’s 290. Nice bowling, guys! 🙂
Nathan Crouse fires 300 in Coke league
I’ve seen him get close to having a game mentioned here a few times since I’ve started following the Coke league, and Nathan Crouse finally broke through last night with a 300 game. I have the last strike on video, below:
WTG Nate! 🙂
Tom Hedding shoots 814, “Mr. 900” 300 to lead Apr. 23 NAT scoring
I hope to have results from the tournament soon, but, to get the honor scores from today’s Northeast Amateur Tournament handicap doubles event out of the way, Tom Hedding led the way with 278-268-268 for an 814 set. “Mr. 900” Hakim Emmanuel added to the scoring with a 300 game, and Jeff Santos (299), Matt Richard (299), and Stan Lewis (295) also had 11 in a row games.
Good work guys! 🙂
Apr. 23 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 29 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
This late in the season, it’s a great night when you can raise your average by two pins, and that’s what happened tonight. I mentioned my night on 9/18/2013 when I shot the 244 game in Brunswick Mixed a few weeks ago, and this is now my high game and series since then, as well as, of course, my highest game and series in this league. The kicker was that I only missed a couple of multi-pin spares in the first game, and was clean after the 9th frame in that game.
Result: 183-207-248=638
Average (87 games): 176
Average for last 9 games: 189
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 615
Composite average (183 games): 174
Unfortunately, Peter had a bad night, but recovered with a 201 third game, which we won by enough to only miss total by four pins.
Clayton E. Hill posts 290 game in state tournament in Gardner
Got word on Facebook that Clayton E. Hill, a member of Eileen On Me in my Wednesday league, put up a 290 game today in the doubles event of the state tournament in Gardner. WTG! 🙂
Tom Hedding shoots 300/837 in Patriots league
“TomTom” Hedding had a big night tonight, posting a 300-280-257 effort for an 837 series. The night is potentially historic: It now puts his average at 239.82, over Nate Abdow’s association record 238, set at AMF Taunton Lanes in the 2009-10 season, with three weeks remaining. WTG! 🙂
Apr. 19 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 33 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I’m mostly happy with how I bowled tonight, but my third game was punctuated by my inability to hit the left lane. I had at least a double four times, counting the four-bagger in the first game.
Result: 205-176-169=550
Average (96 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 178
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 541
Composite average (180 games): 174
In my real league, team won the first game; I’m hoping the 205 is enough to win the virtual league first game.
Harry Thibeault shoots 299 in Patriots league
Per the updated standings, newly-elected association Hall of Famer Harry Thibeault had a 299 game last week in the Patriots league. Nice job! 🙂
2016-17 Week 32 league standings update
Updating my leagues (including virtual) after Week 32:
- Brunswick Mixed: After failing to win points from Spear the 10 Pin, Lane Ducks are in 14th, 17.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are four ahead of Sweet Rolls, five ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs (tomorrow night’s opponents), and six ahead of Livin’ on a Spare.
- Sunday Niters: After winning six points from Ten Is Enough, The 3 Stooges are in 3rd, 11 points behind Here For Beer, who lead We Found “B” by six points, with Suzy’s Crew 20 points behind in 4th. We bowl the leaders Sunday night, with We Found “B” bowling against Suzy’s Crew; with just a position night left afterward, this week is important at the top of the standings.
- Virtual league: Lane Rangers failed to win points from The Unbowlieveables; with Splits & Washouts winning two, that puts Splits & Washouts four behind, The Unbowlieveables six behind, and Big Guns 2.0 eight behind. Our scenario for the championship is two points against Splits & Washouts this week.
Felix Chan shoots 297 in Coke league
The only notable score from last night in the Coke league was a 297 by Felix Chan, who I recently posted about for a 300 game in the Bay State Open. Nice going! 🙂
James Lawson shoots 298 in Rhythm & Bowling
And I did catch a score tonight in the Rhythm & Bowling league, that being James Lawson’s 298. WTG! 🙂
Paris Cook bowls 290/805 in TNBA pre-bowl
This won’t be mentioned on the association’s Facebook page because it was in a pre-bowl, but Paris Cook posted that he bowled 236-290-279 for an 805 for the TNBA league this past week. Nice going! 🙂
Jim Ferguson fires 298 in Patriots league
Along with Nick Grossi’s 300 game Thursday night, Jim Ferguson let me know he had a 298 game himself in the Patriots league. Nice bowling! 🙂
Apr. 16 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Tonight kind of went according to form: First game was the high game, second game the low one, and the third in the middle. I had problems with my 10 pin, but I also missed a couple of easier 3 pins.
Result: 193-151-161=505
Average (84 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 172
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 548
Composite average (177 games): 174
Team lost the first game, but, with Ed’s 624 with a 245 third game, we won the other two and total.
Sean Richard fires 299 at Wonder Bowl
You almost expect Sean Richard to get his 300 game when he has a chance, but he showed me a near-miss of his tonight in the Twilight league at Wonder Bowl in New Bedford on Facebook. Good bowling, anyway. 🙂
Kris Higgins bowls 290 in TNBA league
It’s been a relatively quiet season in the TNBA league, but even that league’s had a few scores, and Kris Higgins posted a good number last week in it with a 290 game. WTG! 🙂
Nick Grossi shoots 300 in Patriots league
Per Sean Richard’s post on Facebook, Nick Grossi, who entered this season never having bowled a 300 game, had his second one last night in the Patriots league. Nice bowling! 🙂
Shawn Hagan, Dave Chalifoux win team event at Northeastern Open
As the post above indicates, Coke league bowlers Shawn Hagan and Dave Chalifoux (with the latter choosing to only sub in the league this year) were members of Team Hagan, officially the handicap team champions of the 2017 Northeastern Open Championships at Yankee Lanes in Keene, NH. Jeff Fields, Mike Farrell, and Mike Cardullo were the other members of the team, as reported to me by captain Shawn Hagan.
Congrats guys, and I’ll recognize the scratch team champions individually as a comment on Facebook.
Apr. 12 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 32 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I was only a bit better than perfectly average tonight. There was at least a double in every game, but also either a split or a washout, two splits in the third game. A couple of missed 10s were thrown in, but I did make more than I missed.
Result: 165-188-168=521
Average (93 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 180
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 569
Composite average (174 games): 174
Team didn’t have a good night, as we lost all three games by at least 50 pins.
Gino Beniamino shoots 300/805 in Coke league
It’s likely Gino Beniamino will remember this Coke league season, as he not only had his first 300 earlier in it, but now his first 800, as he had 279-300-226 for an 805 last night. This is the first 800 in the league since Rich Fulton’s 800 over three years ago (March 2014), and it was my thought that he’s the first with two 300 games in the league in the same season since Matt Yandek had two in the same night in his 801 series.
Because it’s probably better quality than the first one, I’ll share Tom Hedding’s video of Gino’s 300 game last night below:
Good bowling Gino! 🙂
Craig McPherson bowls 290 game in Sunday Niters
As seen on the updated LeagueSecretary.com standings: Just a week after Ken Norris’s 300 game, his teammate in the Sunday Niters league, Craig McPherson, posted a 290 game of his own last night. WTG! 🙂
2016-17 Week 31 league standings update
Updating my leagues (including virtual) after Week 31:
- Brunswick Mixed: After failing to win points from Has Beens, Lane Ducks are in 13th place, 15.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are four points ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs, five ahead of Sweet Rolls, and seven ahead of Livin’ on a Spare. Spear the 10 Pin will be Wednesday night’s opponents.
- Sunday Niters: After winning all eight from Avengers, The 3 Stooges are in 3rd place, 13 points behind Here For Beer, who are 10 points ahead of We Found “B”; Suzy’s Crew is 18 points behind the lead in 4th. Ten Is Enough will be Sunday night’s opponents.
- Virtual league: Lane Rangers won three points (3rd game & total) from Dream Team. With Splits & Washouts winning five, we are now six points ahead of them with two weeks left, with three teams tied for 3rd, 13 points behind. We won total despite sk8shorty01 of Dream Team putting up a 290 second game.
Bill Clukay fires 300 in TNBA junior regional
Westgate Lanes played host to the TNBA’s East regional junior tournament this weekend, and while I might miss other scores, I can report that Bill Clukay had a 300 game in the tournament yesterday. Results will be linked as soon as I see them.
Nice bowling! 🙂
Greg Andrews posts 300/801 in Patriots league; Ferguson, Graves bowl 299
I’ve been mentioning him for his Wednesday night scores, but Greg Andrews also bowls in the Patriots league, and this past Thursday night had 245-256-300 for an 801 series. Also, association Hall of Famer Jim Ferguson and Donald Graves both had 299 games. Good bowling guys! 🙂
Apr. 9 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 27 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
The reader’s attention should be drawn to the third game, as it was one of my rare clean games. I had to convert the 4-7-9 in the 10th that game to keep it clean, and, considering how often I ruin clean games in the 10th, I told people I’d take that every day and twice on Sunday. 🙂
Result: 180-193-190=563
Average (81 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 171
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 528
Composite average: 174
Peter came back to the team after his winter vacation tonight. I was high man on the pair, and the team took all eight.
Dave Kullas posts 300 game in Hyannis
Most of my readers know my policy on noting the accomplishments of Westgate bowlers away from Westgate, and last night provided one of those cases, as Coke league bowler Dave Kullas had a 300 game in the Dave Smith Memorial league at Ryan Family Amusements in Hyannis. Nice job! 🙂
Mike Peirce throws 300 in Patriots league; Peirce & Robinson shoot 558
Mike Peirce’s first two 300 games both came in NAT tournaments, and, last night, he broke his 300 ice in leagues with one in the Patriots league. His partner, association Hall of Famer Dan Robinson, also bowled 258 in that game (third game), so the 558 doubles game is over the USBC reporting threshold. Good job! 🙂
Gary Weiner posts 299 in Westgate Mixed
Gary Weiner didn’t quite collect his third 300, but did post a 299 tonight for his second 11 in a row game of the season. Good bowling! 🙂
Apr. 5 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 31 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I only put strikes together twice tonight, and most of my spare misses were the 10 pin, including twice in the 10th. 50/50 on splits, the one I converted being the 2-7.
Result: 196-168-171=535
Average (90 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 181
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 568
Composite average (168 games): 173
Our opponents were all over average, including a 756 by their anchor, and the team lost all four.
Tom Hedding throws 299 in Patriots league
A late score from last Thursday night with the updated Patriots league standings now available: “TomTom” Hedding also had a 299 game. Good work! 🙂
