This won’t be mentioned on the association’s Facebook page because it was in a pre-bowl, but Paris Cook posted that he bowled 236-290-279 for an 805 for the TNBA league this past week. Nice going! 🙂

Jim Ferguson fires 298 in Patriots league
Along with Nick Grossi’s 300 game Thursday night, Jim Ferguson let me know he had a 298 game himself in the Patriots league. Nice bowling! 🙂
Apr. 16 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
Tonight kind of went according to form: First game was the high game, second game the low one, and the third in the middle. I had problems with my 10 pin, but I also missed a couple of easier 3 pins.
Result: 193-151-161=505
Average (84 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 172
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 548
Composite average (177 games): 174
Team lost the first game, but, with Ed’s 624 with a 245 third game, we won the other two and total.
Sean Richard fires 299 at Wonder Bowl
You almost expect Sean Richard to get his 300 game when he has a chance, but he showed me a near-miss of his tonight in the Twilight league at Wonder Bowl in New Bedford on Facebook. Good bowling, anyway. 🙂
Kris Higgins bowls 290 in TNBA league
It’s been a relatively quiet season in the TNBA league, but even that league’s had a few scores, and Kris Higgins posted a good number last week in it with a 290 game. WTG! 🙂
Nick Grossi shoots 300 in Patriots league
Per Sean Richard’s post on Facebook, Nick Grossi, who entered this season never having bowled a 300 game, had his second one last night in the Patriots league. Nice bowling! 🙂
Apr. 12 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 32 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I was only a bit better than perfectly average tonight. There was at least a double in every game, but also either a split or a washout, two splits in the third game. A couple of missed 10s were thrown in, but I did make more than I missed.
Result: 165-188-168=521
Average (93 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 180
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 569
Composite average (174 games): 174
Team didn’t have a good night, as we lost all three games by at least 50 pins.
Gino Beniamino shoots 300/805 in Coke league
It’s likely Gino Beniamino will remember this Coke league season, as he not only had his first 300 earlier in it, but now his first 800, as he had 279-300-226 for an 805 last night. This is the first 800 in the league since Rich Fulton’s 800 over three years ago (March 2014), and it was my thought that he’s the first with two 300 games in the league in the same season since Matt Yandek had two in the same night in his 801 series.
Because it’s probably better quality than the first one, I’ll share Tom Hedding’s video of Gino’s 300 game last night below:
Good bowling Gino! 🙂
Craig McPherson bowls 290 game in Sunday Niters
As seen on the updated LeagueSecretary.com standings: Just a week after Ken Norris’s 300 game, his teammate in the Sunday Niters league, Craig McPherson, posted a 290 game of his own last night. WTG! 🙂
2016-17 Week 31 league standings update
Updating my leagues (including virtual) after Week 31:
- Brunswick Mixed: After failing to win points from Has Beens, Lane Ducks are in 13th place, 15.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are four points ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs, five ahead of Sweet Rolls, and seven ahead of Livin’ on a Spare. Spear the 10 Pin will be Wednesday night’s opponents.
- Sunday Niters: After winning all eight from Avengers, The 3 Stooges are in 3rd place, 13 points behind Here For Beer, who are 10 points ahead of We Found “B”; Suzy’s Crew is 18 points behind the lead in 4th. Ten Is Enough will be Sunday night’s opponents.
- Virtual league: Lane Rangers won three points (3rd game & total) from Dream Team. With Splits & Washouts winning five, we are now six points ahead of them with two weeks left, with three teams tied for 3rd, 13 points behind. We won total despite sk8shorty01 of Dream Team putting up a 290 second game.
Greg Andrews posts 300/801 in Patriots league; Ferguson, Graves bowl 299
I’ve been mentioning him for his Wednesday night scores, but Greg Andrews also bowls in the Patriots league, and this past Thursday night had 245-256-300 for an 801 series. Also, association Hall of Famer Jim Ferguson and Donald Graves both had 299 games. Good bowling guys! 🙂
Apr. 9 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 27 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
The reader’s attention should be drawn to the third game, as it was one of my rare clean games. I had to convert the 4-7-9 in the 10th that game to keep it clean, and, considering how often I ruin clean games in the 10th, I told people I’d take that every day and twice on Sunday. 🙂
Result: 180-193-190=563
Average (81 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 171
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 528
Composite average: 174
Peter came back to the team after his winter vacation tonight. I was high man on the pair, and the team took all eight.
Dave Kullas posts 300 game in Hyannis
Most of my readers know my policy on noting the accomplishments of Westgate bowlers away from Westgate, and last night provided one of those cases, as Coke league bowler Dave Kullas had a 300 game in the Dave Smith Memorial league at Ryan Family Amusements in Hyannis. Nice job! 🙂
Mike Peirce throws 300 in Patriots league; Peirce & Robinson shoot 558
Mike Peirce’s first two 300 games both came in NAT tournaments, and, last night, he broke his 300 ice in leagues with one in the Patriots league. His partner, association Hall of Famer Dan Robinson, also bowled 258 in that game (third game), so the 558 doubles game is over the USBC reporting threshold. Good job! 🙂
Gary Weiner posts 299 in Westgate Mixed
Gary Weiner didn’t quite collect his third 300, but did post a 299 tonight for his second 11 in a row game of the season. Good bowling! 🙂
Apr. 5 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 31 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
I only put strikes together twice tonight, and most of my spare misses were the 10 pin, including twice in the 10th. 50/50 on splits, the one I converted being the 2-7.
Result: 196-168-171=535
Average (90 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 181
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 568
Composite average (168 games): 173
Our opponents were all over average, including a 756 by their anchor, and the team lost all four.
Tom Hedding throws 299 in Patriots league
A late score from last Thursday night with the updated Patriots league standings now available: “TomTom” Hedding also had a 299 game. Good work! 🙂
2016-17 Week 30 league standings update
Updating my leagues after Week 30 of the season (including, as always, the virtual league):
- Brunswick Mixed: After winning four points from Minds in the Gutter (my post of Spare Us as last week’s opponents was in error), Lane Ducks are in 10th place, 12.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are four ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs, six ahead of Sweet Rolls, and seven ahead of Livin’ on a Spare. Has Beens will be tomorrow night’s opponents. I was just a pin short of tying for the high handicap game of the week in the men’s “B” division (Michael Simmons was high with a 270 handicap game).
- Sunday Niters: After winning six points from OSIMAS, The 3 Stooges are in 3rd place, 13 points behind Here For Beer, who lead We Found “B” by eight points, and Adam & Steve are in 4th, 14 points behind the lead. Avengers will be Sunday night’s opponents.
- Virtual league: Lane Rangers won all seven from High Flush; with Splits & Washouts winning five, our lead over them increased by eight points, with The Unbowlieveables and Big Guns 2.0 tied for 3rd, 12 points behind.
Kevin Thibeault bowls 300, Rob Young 276 in Coke league
There were a couple of games of note last night in the Coke league, one of them by Kevin Thibeault with a 300 in the third game. I have the video below:
The other was an unusual 11 in a row 276 game bowled by association Hall of Famer Rob Young, in which he left the Greek Church (4-6-7-9-10) in the first frame, picked only a pin out of it, and then had the last 11. Rob actually had 21 in a row, as he followed the 276 up with a 289, but the 800 bid fell short in the last frame of the night. Note: 21 in a row without a 300 game is hard to do.
Good bowling guys! 🙂
Ken Norris shoots 300 in Sunday Niters
I said more was coming about tonight, and here it is: Ken Norris had a 300 tonight, his second in the league in as many years, and I have the video of the last strike below:
Congrats again, Kenny! 🙂
Apr. 2 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 26 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
My third game was definitely better than my first two, particularly because I couldn’t seem to buy a spare in those two. A bright side is that I did better on my splits than usual, converting one (the 4-9) and picking four out of another (Greek church).
Result: 154-146-181=481
Average (78 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 161
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 566
Composite average (165 games): 173
After losing the first game, we won the other two and today, with the third game win coming on Harry’s double in the 10th. Harry had a one-open (a 7-10) 761.
More about tonight in the league to come.
Ray Fischer bowls 805 in Patriots league; Fischer & Richard post 558 game
I saw on Sean Richard’s Facebook tonight that Ray Fischer had games of 279, 247, and 279 for an 805 series, but it was also the third game that caught my eye, as Sean had a 279 himself for a 558 doubles game, which is over the USBC reporting threshold (550). WTG, both of you! 🙂
Mar. 29 Brunswick Mixed recap
My Week 30 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
It was looking like a more or less ordinary night for me after two games, but, after a spare to start, everything just “clicked” and I started carrying, going five in a row, single-pin spare, big-ish split, and then two Brooklyn strikes, which loosened me up enough (particularly knowing the game was in hand) to throw the last two flush. The 244 was my highest game in over three years, the last time I had a game that good coming on Sept. 18, 2013, in which I had both a 259 and a 244 in bowling 665.
Result: 161-162-244=567
Average (87 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 173
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 581
Composite average (162 games): 174
My spare in the 10th first game was important, because we won by a pin on the fill. The second game was not as close, and, as I mentioned, the first strike in the 10th meant the third game win, for all four points.
Mar. 28 Patriots team score note
Mark Zimmerman and Brian Egan are Patriots league teammates, and, with Brian’s 778 last week combined with Mark’s 802, the duo posted a 1,580 series, which is over the USBC’s reporting threshold for men-only doubles. Good work, guys! 🙂
2016-17 Week 29 league standings update
Updating my leagues after Week 29 of the season (with the virtual league result):
- Brunswick Mixed: After winning two points from Striking Gentlemen, Lane Ducks are tied for 11th with Knock Em Down, and trailing the leading Eileen On Me by 14.5 points. The leaders are ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs by five points, Sweet Rolls by seven points, and Livin’ on a Spare and Has Beens by nine points. Spare Us will be the opposition tomorrow night.
- Sunday Niters: After winning two points from Bowling Stones, The 3 Stooges are in 4th place, 15 points behind Here For Beer, who lead We Found “B” by 10 points and Adam & Steve by 14 points. OSIMAS are Sunday night’s opponents.
- Virtual league: Lane Rangers won two of seven from Big Guns 2.0, and Splits & Washouts also only won two, so we maintained our six point lead, with Big Guns 2.0 seven points behind in 3rd and The Unbowlieveables nine back in 4th. The two points from Big Guns 2.0 came despite Fin09 of that team bowling 268-300-258 for an 826 series. BowlerBill, a member of High Flush, had a 300 game himself, and it was only the second time in the league’s history that two different bowlers posted a 300 game in the same week.
Mar. 27 Coke league note
Tonight in the Coke league was quiet for high scores, but that didn’t mean I have nothing to report, as Pat Carrara converted the 7-10 split in the second game. WTG! 🙂
Mark Zimmerman shoots 802 in Patriots league
And another score from this past Thursday night in the Patriots league: Mark Zimmerman posted 279-255-268 for an 802 set. WTG! 🙂
Thomas Roberson bowls 300 in Rhythm & Bowling
Congrats to Thomas Roberson, with a 300 game tonight in the Boston Rhythm & Bowling league. It was the second one in the league this season (Paris Cook had the other).
Mar. 26 Sunday Niters recap
My Week 25 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)
My match had to be moved to the end pair (61-62) because of a breakdown, and the lanes were playing very differently, as I was well left of where I’ve been playing the last couple of weeks. I had a decent first game, but I was mostly done in by splits in the other two, with three in the second game and two in the third game.
Result: 182-158-155=495
Average (75 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 173
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 600
Composite average (159 games): 173
Harry and Ed both had a 200 game (Harry first & second, Ed third), and with a bowler averaging in (he joined the team that lost Curt Layton), I think we only won the first game.
Tasheka Douglas bowls 711 in Rhythm & Bowling
This is really backlogged, but on Feb. 5 (Super Bowl Sunday), Tasheka Douglas posted games of 256, 186, and 269 for a 711 series in the Boston Rhythm & Bowling league. WTG Tasheka! 🙂
Note: Because the date in question was Super Bowl Sunday, my own Sunday league didn’t bowl that week.
