Greg Andrews shoots 300 in Westgate Mixed

Greg Andrews is getting comfortable in his second full season at Westgate, as, tonight, I’m mentioning him for the fourth time in the season and third in connection to the Westgate Mixed league, as he put up three bills in the second game. Good bowling! 🙂

Update: Thanks to Kimmy Paige, we have a video of Greg’s last strike, which she uploaded to Facebook and I share here:

Mar. 22 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 29 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

My night was pretty much saved when I got the idea to play up the track, as I started the third game with four in a row playing that line and hung on for my deuce game. There was no blaming myself for single pin misses tonight, because I only saw four single pins on the night. Of the multi-pin spares, five were splits, one of which I converted.

Result: 189-136-207=532
Average (84 games): 172
Average for last 9 games: 166
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 539

Composite average (156 games): 174

Team got crushed in the second game, even with Barry’s 212 (and a deuce was a long time coming for him), but we did win the other two to split the points.

2016-17 Week 28 league standings update

Updating my leagues (including virtual) after Week 28:

  • Brunswick Mixed: After winning two points from Solid 10, Lane Ducks are 12th place, 14.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are leading by seven points over Creeden’s Mustangs, eight over Minds in the Gutter, and nine over Sweet Rolls and Has Beens. Striking Gentlemen are tomorrow night’s opponents.
  • Sunday Niters: After winning six points from Pinknockers, The 3 Stooges are in 4th place, 11 points behind Here For Beer, who are 10 points in front of We Found “B” and Adam & Steve. The 3 Stooges face Bowling Stones Sunday night.
  • Virtual league: Lane Rangers won four points from Team Square Balls and are now leading Splits & Washouts by six points, and Dream Team and Big Guns 2.0 by 10 points. Lane Rangers also had the high team series of the week.

Brian Egan, Keith Tantillo perfect in Coke league

The last quarter of the Coke league season started out pretty much the way the third one did, with a couple of 300 games, one in the first game by Brian Egan, and the other in the third game by Keith Tantillo. I tried to get the video of Keith’s game, but forgot to switch my camera back to video mode and took a still photo instead.

Nice bowling guys! 🙂

Update: Thanks to Rich Fulton, I do have a video of Keith’s 300, which is shared below:

Mar. 19 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 24 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I didn’t get the start I did last week, but I was at least better in the other two, with my spare game keeping me hanging on in the third game. I had two missed single pins, but one was an unexpected 8.

Result: 125-184-166=475
Average (72 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 177
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 567

Composite average (153 games): 173

Harry’s 286 first game proved important, as it kept us close, and we won the other two games by enough for total. Harry finished with a 745.

Mar. 15 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 28 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Except for the end of the first game, I was never really comfortable, and there were plenty of missed spare opportunities. Corner pins, especially, were a problem, as I missed six of those.

Result: 173-140-147=460
Average (81 games): 172
Average for last 9 games: 164
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 552

Composite average (150 games): 174

We lost the first game, but I was hoping my punch-out in the 10th that game would pay off for total later, and it almost did, as we won the other two games, but lost total by four pins. Barry (514) was high on the team, and both Si and Jeff were also over average on their nights.

2016-17 Week 27 league standings update

Updating my leagues after Week 27 of the season (including the virtual league result):

  • Brunswick Mixed: After winning a half-point from Striking Gentlemen, Lane Ducks are tied with Knock em Down for 12th, 12.5 points behind Eileen On Me, who are five points ahead of Has Beens, six ahead of Creeden’s Mustangs, and eight ahead of Livin’ on a Spare and Minds in the Gutter. Solid 10 are tonight’s opponents.
  • Sunday Niters: After winning seven points from Broads With Balls, The 3 Stooges are tied with them for 4th, 15 points behind Here For Beer, who are 12 points ahead of We Found “B” and 14 ahead of Adam & Steve. Pinknockers are Sunday night’s opponents. I’d also like to offer my sympathy to the family of Sunday Niters member Curt Layton, who has passed away.
  • Virtual league: Lane Rangers won three of seven from 7 Baggers, but Splits & Washouts only won two, so we are ahead of that team by seven points, Big Guns 2.0 by eight, and Dream Team and The Unbowlieveables by 11.

2016-17 Coke league 3rd quarter winners, 4th quarter shot

Chan ended up winning the Coke league’s 3rd quarter, and I have their photo below (pardon the quality a bit):

Chan Coke league 2016-17
2016-17 Coke league 3rd quarter winners, Chan (L-R: Edmond Chan, Felix Chan, Darian Chen, Kit Lee)

The photo has been copied to the “scrapbook”, and will also be uploaded to the Facebook page.

As noted previously with Rich Fulton’s 300 in the Tuesday Night Tournament, Kegel’s Great Wall of China (link to top-view graph) will be the lane condition for the last quarter. Note: Pattern was probably modified to make the ratio around 5:1.

Mar. 12 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 23 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

One of my better nights of the season, which started with the first five. I could have had 600 easily, but I kept shooting myself in the foot after doubles in the third game. There was only one missed single pin, with my left side being the elusive side.

Result: 233-172-186=591
Average (69 games): 176
Average for last 9 games: 167
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 586

Composite average (147 games): 174

I was almost able to file this under “Honor Scores” because Harry could have shot 801 with his last three strikes, but left a 10 pin on the second shot and finished with a 789 (287-234-268). Harry’s punch-out in the 10th tied the second game, and we won the others comfortably.

Mar. 8 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 27 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

My spare miss to start the third game actually helped, as it gave me the idea to play outside, and, except for one split that I almost made, I was clean the rest of the night.

Result: 192-133-179=504
Average (78 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 175
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 574

Composite average (144 games): 174

We ran into a hot team tonight, but my strike filling the 10th to end the night was needed for the tie. I think this was the third tied game we’ve had this half.

Westgate team wins Southeastern Mass. junior travel league

As reported on the final standing sheet, the Westgate Lanes team of Billy Null, Ethan Reyes, Shane Litchfield, and Kyle Egan (with sub Stephen Major) are officially the winners of the Southeastern Mass. Junior Scratch Travel League for this season after Sunday’s position round at Westgate Lanes. The league also travels to North Bowl Lanes, Wonder Bowl, and Holiday Lanes (Westport), with each of the four centers fielding multiple teams.

2016-17 Week 26 league standings update

Updating my leagues after Week 26 of the season (including the virtual league result):

  • Brunswick Mixed: After winning four forfeit points from Artie’s Angels, Lane Ducks will face Striking Gentlemen tomorrow night in a position round. The position is a tie for 10th place (with Ebony & Ivories sorting to 10th by pinfall), and is nine points behind Eileen On Me, who are four points ahead of Minds in the Gutter and five ahead of four teams.
  • Sunday Niters: The 3 Stooges lost all eight in a position round to Adam & Steve, and are now in a tie for 6th with Avengers, 14 points behind Here For Beer, who are six points ahead of We Found “B”, eight ahead of Broads With Balls (Sunday night’s opponents), and 12 ahead of Suzy’s Crew and Adam & Steve.
  • Virtual league: Lane Rangers won three of seven from Splits & Washouts, and are leading that team by six points, Big Guns 2.0 by seven, and High Flush, Dream Team, and The Unbowlieveables by 13 points.

Mar. 5 Sunday Niters recap

My Week 22 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

This was really a better night than the first-ball gutter balls made it look, as those were my only missed multi-pin makeable spares on an otherwise good spare shooting night. Lanes were getting fried, so that explains the use of the T-Zone later in the night. As for the first game, I knew my Tropical Breeze would be the ball, but the thumb hole had been feeling loose, so I ran into the pro shop for thumb tape, which I was using for the first time in any of my balls, and that really helped, as the five-bagger showed.

Result: 221-161-152=534
Average (66 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 158
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 577

Composite average (141 games): 174

I had the high game on the pair for the night, which might be saying more about Harry’s night than mine; team lost all eight.

Mar. 1 Brunswick Mixed recap

My Week 26 bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I was thinking “here we go again” after two games, but it was a better night than Sunday night, because the potential triplicate was 169. The double 9th & 10th in the third game, however, made sure I actually improved in the third game.

Result: 169-169-177=515
Average (75 games): 173
Average for last 9 games: 180
Next week’s AVG+1 score: 556

Composite average (138 games): 174

Team won four forfeit points, with Si having a strong night.

Wanting to do more for the association board, and noting that announcements weren’t really being made about our events on Wednesday night, I made my debut on the Westgate PA system tonight with an announcement about Sunday’s BBA Madness tournament. I wasn’t sure how I’d sound, but the feedback I got from the bowlers was encouraging, so I’ll likely be making the announcements for the association on Wednesday nights going forward.

Rich Fulton shoots 300 in TNT

Got word tonight that Rich Fulton bowled another 300 game, this in the Tuesday night pot game. This was the first night that the pot games were on the (likely modified) Kegel Great Wall of China pattern, which will be the last quarter’s Coke shot, so if this is any indication, there shouldn’t be much change to the Coke league’s scoring pace when the league starts on the new shot.

Good bowling Rich! 🙂

2016-17 Week 25 league standings update

Updating my leagues after Week 25 of the season, with my team’s result in the virtual league; Sunday Niters will be added later:

  • Brunswick Mixed: After winning a point from Eileen On Me, Lane Ducks are in a tie for 14th with Ebony & Ivories, and are now 10 points behind Eileen On Me, who are in the lead, with Creeden’s Mustangs and Has Beens three points behind the lead and four teams five behind. Artie’s Angels are tomorrow night’s opponents, with a position round coming next week.
  • Virtual league: Lane Rangers won five points from The Unbowlieveables, and are now six points ahead of Big Guns 2.0 and seven points ahead of Splits & Washouts. A member of Big Guns 2.0, Fin09, broke the league’s individual series record, going 300-299-238 for an 837. B Fury, who was one of my teammates when he set it, held the old record, 824, for nearly six years
